If Miami is eliminated, it gives the NBA an incentive to rig against San Antonio since OKC can beat Indiana.

Great point.

Nothing like "crowning" Durant when the Heat fall just short in the EC.

But if the Spurs are getting rigged out (probable),

I think it will happen regardless of who the wins the EC.

RefKC for the "win."

hint: Miami losing the first game doesn't mean they're losing the series. And cut out the "rigging" bullshit anyways...if the NBA rigged their series, why would we have Finals like San Antonio/New Jersey. In 2009, they could've simply rigged the ECF so that LeBron's Cavs advanced and played Kobe's Lakers. Ratings would've been huge. But instead they chose for Orlando to win...lol.

Some Spurs fans are ridiculous. Do superstars get the benefit of the doubt with foul calls? Sure. Can refs favor a certain team at times? Sure. But I'm not buying this "NBA picks and chooses who advances and wins" bullshit.

I'd have to agree with you Jim on clear cut wins and losses with wide margins of error, however there are instances where wins and losses are not so clear cut and the margin of error is very narrow, and in those instances a possession call can make all the difference in the world. It's easy to say after a loss that the game could have been played better and the questionable calls wouldn't factor in, but they do factor in because both teams are good and both teams make mistakes. If the margin of error favors them because of officiating, you're already playing from behind.

So, another way to take your comment is to see it as "if we start down 10 points and play the right way, we should win".

IF the Spurs play like they did against the Mavs in Game 7 and Portland in Games 1-3, 5, the Spurs will win this Series regardless what the refs do. That of course unless we have another game 3 and 4 like the Mav '06 series where they shot 99 fts over two games. But since the Donaghy incident, I have failed to witness such a blatant display of BS favoritism (cheating more like it) by the refs.

Yes, they still do it in spurts but not on that Scale anymore. Just like they try in Game 1 against the Spurs in the 3rd quarter. After about 6-7 minutes of it, they stopped. Before it would have carried on til the end of the game.

I could actually see the heat struggling this series. Indiana looks galvanized and outside of LeBron I don't see anyone on the Heat team who is playing well. Bosh has fallen off and Wade looks at the end of his tether. Going to be tough for them to beat Indy let alone the Spurs in the Finals.

No. The NBA always find the way to make the show.

If the Finals are MIA-SAS again, they'll promote that like "The champions rematch" "Two teams destined to meet in the Finals"

If OKC-IND they'll say "Young Blood battling for the Glory"

If MIA-OKC "The King vs the MVP" "MVPs throne"...

Even if IND-SAS "The experience vs the Talent" "Duncan and Parker vs their apprentices..." "The rising Stars war..PG vs Sugar K" (well, maybe not the last) but...I really can see some stuff about Duncan/Hibbert and Parker as Hill's mentor...

Gagnrath

The refs screw job thing, after seeing the Nets get jobbed to give the heat advantages toward the end of two games, we wonder about aging superstars getting respect in regards to calls. I understand one call can be missed but in both games it was 3 or 4 on both sides of the ball. All would have been fine as either fouls or no calls, but it has to be consistant on both ends it cant be no calls when the other team has the ball and fouls when the heat do.

Losing one on the road at the beginning is alot better than dropping the game one at home, you basically lose HC and have to go get it back. You do have the same road and home games left if it goes 7 though you are correct. You essentially have to get back that HC though as I said.

Good win.
