Would it be the worst rated series in modern pro sports history, tbh?..

Would probably still best Spurs-Cavs, Spurs-Pistons, Spurs-Nets and Spurs-Knicks.

Easily. At least 07 had Lebron. Nobody's tuning in to watch Lance Stephenson v Danny Green :lol

It'd probably rank in the bottom 5 for NBA finals.

what about if its Thunderefs vs Pacers? I could see the Tribe marketing it as "The Battle of the Heartland" with Thunder winning and Paul George giving a determined speech at the end, "we'll be back next year and be better." I just think the best option is Spurs vs Heat, dust off the Rocky II script, there's your blockbuster.

Thunder-Pacers would approach record-lows, too, tbh..

Lakers-Magic only did a 8.4 rating, and that's with peak Kobe and the huge LA market..

Durant isn't a big enough star to bring ratings to the Finals against Indy IMO..Kobe was a much bigger star than Durant, and Indiana doesn't even have a Dwight Howard..

I don't think anything can get lower than 2003 and 2007, though, after looking back at the ratings:lol..Indiana vs. OKC or SA would probably make the bottom 3 IMO..

Not a big market standing after Tom and CP0 went under.

If that's the case, I'm really pulling for a finals with some shitty ass ratings :lol

Probably bottom 5 in ratings..Also the spurs would kill Indiana so bad that it would probably be bottom 2 by the end of game 5..

I dont care. It's gonna still be big in the Philippines.

It could be The Bobcats vs the Cavs and people will still tune in. Guaranteed.

I think it's cute how the media is constantly trying to prop up the Spurs' "beautiful ball movement" when our ball movement hasn't been all that visually impressive this year. The peak of our ball movement "eye candy" was probably in 2012. The Clippers had more aesthetically pleasing ball movement this year, tbh.

And just to be clear, I'm not saying the Spurs don't move the ball as well this year. I'm just saying it's not as visually pleasing given the way most teams guard the Spurs these days.

It would make for one of the five worst finals, the other four being in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007.

Pop was born in Indiana too, IIRC... I'm sure ABC/ESPN would make a nice story about that for us 12-17 viewers watching it...

I mean, ESPN will have content, but the casual basketball fan still wouldn't watch the series.

All former ABA teams in the NBA finals. Sounds like a once in a lifetime marketing opportunity.

What if the spurs joined the SEC with the aggies
Then they would get alot of exposure on the new SEC network AND would receive fair revenue as opposed to LHN. Cue SEC chant.

Yeah, you're right. This comment is honestly more entertaining than the 2005 NBA Finals.

People are so stupid when analyzing this.... Its not about small market / big market, although that helps

Ratings go as how exciting the games are and how close they are... if i'm not mistaken Spurs-Heat had massive ratings compared to Thunder-Heat, which had a much better storyline (Durbeta vs Bran)

Cavs vs Spurs, which should have great ratings because it could be LeBron finally losing his ring virginity in basically a one-man effort, had horrid ratings, why? It was never a contest, 4-0 etc

Of course Spurs-Pistons were very close and ratings were still low, so my whole post is now worthless

I'm too lazy to edit it all , fuck it

Only pussies and assholes complain about ratings. Who gives a shit about ratings anyways? Why can't people just accept the Finals matchup that they get?

The NBA is worse at brand management than the NHL. That is what happens when you promote your employees over your companies or product. Then change the rules such that iso-ball is one of the more effective strategies to employ to further promote your individual employees.

Hopefully Silver can try something different than his predecessor.

It's more about master versus padavan. Duncan-Hibbert, Parker-Hill, Scola-Splitter, Duncan-Mahinmi.

We'll face Miami, though.

Nba let's Nike and Samsung and ESPN market it's players instead of marketing themselves
