I don't believe he really thinks this, I think he said this just for the fans. I have plenty of rockets friends and they have been saying this for weeks. Lakers fans can be delusional, but these guys are competing with them.

He's right that the rockets would have been a tougher matchup for us than the Blazers. He's wrong that it would have made any difference or that Houston is somehow a championship caliber team. No McHale coached team will ever seriously contend.

Rockets would have been a tougher matchup. But it's not our fault Harden got shut down by one of the worst defensive teams in the playoffs tbh.

Hakeem knows a thing or two about favors, the gift basket he sends to the Starks family every year is really extravagant.

He should be bowing down to Jordan's feet every time he see him, especially if you are calling out teams doing other teams favor. Hakeem is one of the last people on earth that should be making such statements.

You cannot judge the Rockets team based upon just being out in the first round. I think they are a better team. I think they just played the wrong team.
:lol played the wrong team? Nigga this is the playoffs, there is no right or wrong team, you play who you play.

He's fluffing the Houston media and Howard's ego.
Umm... pretty sure to get to the next round you have to beat the team in front of you. Houston didn't do that. If the Spurs can thank anyone, its the Mavs.

So because Houston wasn't good enough to get out of the first round, it's the Spurs who are fortunate b/c of this? Awesome logic Hakeem.

Love the dream, fellow Muslim and all but I disagree. They lost for a reason. I know they match up well during the season and swept us but mia. Vs Brooklyn and this series just go to show the playoffs is totally different.

Houston might have been easier, but we will never know, they died in mediocrity.
Meh...If anyone did the Spurs a favor, it was Dallas. The Mavs pushed them hard, made them sharpen up, and reminded them how tough the playoffs can be. That tough first round was a blessing in disguise.

If the Spurs had sleepwalked into the first round that way against any other team, they'd probably be watching the playoffs on TV right now.
Lol he's trippin. He should give thanks and praise to Allah every day that Jordan did him a favor those 2 years he was away.

Only team in the West that was capable of beating the Spurs is the one you're playing now. But since they lost Ibaka, it's pretty much a done deal.
1:47:40 I said it, but I shouldn't have. What I should have said...
01:47:44 - I can't translate that. - You can't translate what?
01:47:46 - I can't translate "should". - There's no Mende word for "should"?
01:47:49 No. Either you do something, or you don't do it.
01:47:52 What I meant to say, what I MEANT...
The Rockets either make it to the WCF and meet the Spurs or they do not. They did not.

What a different world Portland would be.
Dude does have a point.
I still think the Spurs would have gotten past Houston in 6 or 7, but it would have been a much harder series. Houston would have been a more physical team and banged more in the post. Howard beasted through the first round loss, and he would've had a chip on his shoulder coming back into San Antonio with a new crew. Beardy would have done what he normally does, and some scrub like Lin would surely have had the series of their lives.
Instead, Lillard's miracle shot gave the Spurs a series against an overmatched Blazers team and a cold shooting Aldridge, and that series ended up being predicated a lot more finesse than brute strength.

I've seen multiple posts by people with the same mentality on clutchfans. It's not an overwhelming majority but there, more like 1/3 people. Sunday afternoon this rocket fan nearly got into a shouting match with me at a bar. He was mad mostly because I was laughing, I've heard it so many times.

I'm tired of hearing about this overrated fuck. 1.) he charges people money to teach them absolutely nothing. Look at Amare, McGee, Dwight with suspect ass post moves 2.) he'd be another Barkley and Malone if Jordan had never retired 3.) This piece of shit has always hated the Spurs since the Robinson days, he's lucky he had more help than Robinson did

Rockets would have been a tougher matchup. But it's not our fault Harden got shut down by one of the worst defensive teams in the playoffs tbh. :tu Aldridge dropping 40 twice and losing 2 home games with home court advantage certainly didn't help the Rockets cause. They're offense can be as bad as OKC at times hoping for fouls and jacking up 3's.

:lol What a pathetic thing to say on the record. That's why you play in the regular season to get the top seed so you don't have to take on the tougher opponents (although the Mavs were certainly no pushovers, I do think they would have been a lot worse off if they didn't play us). The Rockets got obliterated by a team without good defense and no bench... I don't really think they can go on record and say they would have beaten us when they got taken to school by a much younger team. Not like the Rockets got out because of a flukish game or two, the Blazers flat-out beat them in every way.

TD/Splitter would have shut down Dwight and Green/Kawhi would have shut down Harden. The Spurs are playing at a different level right now and it wouldn't make a difference.
