I totally agree. I'll add them.

Would you believe as a kid Tatum would have his lunch money taken from him on his way to school, hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree. I'll add them.
The raiders also hav arguaby the best CB duo with mike Haynes and Lester Hayes. Best left side of a line with shell/upshaw. Best punter.

Devin Hester is the best special teams ace (gale Sayers and Deion could also be argued)

best left handed qb: Steve young

As I've explained before, nobody bets with a known welcher :lol

You should have taken the bet with Harlem's dog when you had the chance, but you knew full well you were going to lose (and welch, again) :lol

I'm racking my brain trying to think of a better CB duo..hmmm?

Can make a case for Belitnikoff and Branch in the WR duo thing also. Without question the classic...speed with possesion...combo.

Even as a homer id be hard pressed to take branch/Fred over moss/Carter. The Vikings version of randy moss is probably the best WR of all time not named Jerry rice

It;s a real shame Branch isn't in the HOF his stats are superior to a lot of them in the Hall.

He just missed making the 72 Olympic team, he came in fifth in the trials.

Can't ignore John Mackey he's the one who changed the TE position.

Merlin Olsen was a defensive tackle.

Deacon Jones was a sprinter in college, yes a lot lighter.

Branch is much better than Lynn Swann... Too bad he doesn't have a famous slow motion diving juggling catch which he shouldn't have juggled in the first place.

Tim brown and cliff branch both need inductions. Brown put up top 5 numbers all time despite playing a majority of his career with terrible quarterbacks. Marinovich, shroeder, Jeff George, hostetler, until he finally had a chance to play with a good qb in rich gannon. Imagine if the rice-brown duo had come together 10 years earlier than it did

There has never been a player as dominate at their position in their era than Don Hutson. He was on a whole other level than wide receivers in his time.

His 1942 season with 74 catchs 1211 yards and 17 tds totally off the charts.

His career stats are triple anyone else from that era.

A 9.8 sprinter while at Alabama, at that time the WR 9.4.

It was like a movie.

Miami was the only team to ever go undefeated*** in the NFL and here come the 85 Bears looking like the team to tie them, so what team knocks them off.....Miami...on a Monday night. The Bears oly lost that one game that season.

*** there were a few oldies but goodies that never lost but were tied.

Well if we're into football nicknames now...

Rufus "The Roadrunner" Ferguson
Fred "The Hammer" Williamson
Paul "Tank" Younger
Eugene "Mercury" Morris
"Ironhead" Heyward
Christian "The Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye
Ed "Too Tall" Jones
Gary "Big Hands" Johnson
"Mini" Mac Herron
Nolan "Super Gnat" Smith
Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch
"Slingin' " Sammy Baugh
Darly "The Mad Bomber" Lamonica
Lionel "Little Train" James
Bill "Thunder" Thornton
Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson
Mack "The Truck" Lee Hill
Leslie "Speedy" Duncan
"Squirmin" Sherman Lewis
Gene "Big Daddy" Lipscomb
L.G. "Long Gone" Dupree
Hugh "The King" McElhenny
Joe "The Jet" Perry
Jim "Cannonball" Butler
John "The Deisel" Riggins
"The Kansas Comet" Gale Sayers
"Touchdown" Tommy Wison
"Jaquar" Jon Arnett
"Fast" Willie Parker

My favorite real name...Fair Hooker...he was a hurdler at ASU and a wide receiver for the Browns.

Army once had Doc"Mr.Inside" Blanchard (a power back) and Glenn "Mr.Outside" Davis (a 9.6 sprinter) both would win the Heisman, only time in history two backs on the same team pulled that off, obviously in different seasons.

Then there's Notre Dames legendary....The Four Horseman.

Yep, it gets no better than "The Mad Bomber". But, without the great Warren Wells a sprinter out of Texas Southern Lamonica wouldn't have had that moniker. Wells was the ultimate long ball receiver.

Billy "White Shoes" Johnson was ridiculous in college, he played for some tiny little school, set all kinds of records.

While Payton was often called "Sweetness" it never really took as a legit nickname, sorta like Lance Alworth and "Bambi".

While here...

Just a couple nuggets to widen your football horizons.

The first player to ever spike the ball was Homer Jones a wide receiver for the Giants/Browns. Jones was a national caliber sprinter while at Texas Southern and one of the few to ever beat Bob Hayes, he did it in asn NAIA 200m.

Chiefs receiver Elmo Wright (out of Houston) was the first to do a little td dance.
