He'll probably have a Willis Reed type appearance. Play 10-15 minutes to boost morale. No way in hell is he coming back in his regular season form, much less his 2012 11-11 from the field form.

Spurs just need to not choke (which is always a fuckin' possibility with this team) and they win the series, Ibaka or no Ibaka.

Great news. I was hoping this would happen. If he plays meaningful minutes(if he can even physically do that) it almost certainly guarantees a sweep.

They have nothing to lose tbh. Oh wait, yes they do. They could fuck up his career. Idiotic move unless the injury was exaggerated from the beginning.

Gimpy-baka won't make a huge difference, since he needs his athleticism to be most effective. I certainly don't think he can be their small-ball five right now, which is what they're really missing.

Also, it's possible that THIS is OKC's troll attempt and that he won't be back. They could just be trying to make the Spurs waste time planning for him.

I agree - it's dangerous to his health and career. I'm guessing Brooks is more than willing to roll the dice, and Ibaka is a warrior. Would be a shameful move for the franchise imo

Lateral move? I know you are retarded but this is beyond stupidity.

But it's totally expected from you. You cannot even be honest about your hating obsession. Shall we bring up all your "fuck Dan Gilbert" threads as Sessions was playing well down the stretch? Apparently you were wrong too. Your obsession really makes you waver in illogical ways. He wilted in the playoffs and that was always a possibility since it was an unknown. And he is now gone.

Nash plays terrible defense. That is a given. No worse than Fisher or Sessions though. Bad is just bad and all 3 are bad. What he does do that neither Fish nor Sessions did/do well is run the prick and roll and make quality entry passes to the bigs in the post. That in itself is a huge upgrade. He also is one of the best shooting guards in the history of the game. Surely a lateral move as Fish and Sessions were so well known for the shooting prowess. hahaha So no more leaving the PG alone to go double Pau, Bynum, or Kobe. WE could go on and on about spreading the floor, taking pressure off Kobe to create, setting up higher % looks for everyone in the purple & gold etc. but it's all lost on you. Lateral move? What a moronic comment and one that shows you just have no grip on reality when it comes to your Laker hate.

Now the intangibles. I love how you morons say the Lakers have mortgaged their future by trading away their picks. The Lakers haven’t had a first round pick since 2007 and have won 2 titles since. Brilliant. They are definitely going all in to win now but that in no way mortgages their future. It's the Lakers and I have been hearing this same rant for 40 years. Do any of you know if this is the end of the moves the Lakers are making? No. Who now are thinking, oh with Nash there distributing I am much more interested in going there? Lots of questions still to be answered.

One question that doesn’t though is if this is a lateral move. Any child with minimal basketball knowledge can answer that one.

Unless of course they are consumed, jealous, and obsessed by all the Laker tradition of WINNING!

Sing it Midget! From the mountain tops baby! Sing away! :lmao

Everyone saw this coming. I'm not sure how dangerous playing on an injured calf is. I think the biggest danger is that he will re-aggravate it. Worth a shot for the Thunder, not like they can get much worse and he might even help on a gimped leg.

He's not going to have any of his normal speed or athleticism. He won't be able to jump to block shots, or recover on rotations, or play laterally on the pick and roll. Even his jumper will probably be affected by the gimpy leg.

In other words, he will have lost all of the assets that make him their 3rd best player.

His jersey may be out there, but I'll be surprised if he performs any better than Steven Adams has. If so, maybe then I'll start to buy into some of the conspiracy talk.

:lol at people who make Ibaka sound like the greatest big man in the game today. Dude probably needs to get a contract extension with how much everyone is talking about his absence like he were Shaq or something.

It might make a little difference, but the differential in points and inside scoring is still in our favor by a long shot. I don't see Brooks playing him more than 15 minutes due to injury, knowing that he could tweak it and make it worse.

Dude's injury won't be heeled overnight though. We would have something to worry about if a healthy Ibaka came back, but never mind a still injured one. OKC fans are fooling themselves to think they still have a chance, they're getting swept anyway with or without that nigga* :lol

Rummpd
05-24-2014, 09:07 AM
Given the reported grade 2 plantaris injury and Ibaka's lessening in swelling, he does have a slight chance to play if the Thunder were to advance to the NBA Finals, though I still think reports of a possible return to the conference finals remain optimistic at best.

ESPN doctor gives his opinion likely not coming back for game 3 or CF but who the hell knows

Serge Ibaka spoke to the media today.

He said if he plays, it will be incredibly painful and there's a chance he could make the injury worse. He says he's not anywhere near 100%. He will see what the doctor says tomorrow. If the doctor says he can play, he will. He has not ran yet, has not practiced yet, and has gone through little contact. He was seen walking around the gym with a noticeable limp.
But he says, "I'm a tough guy."

It sounds like if he does play, he won't be of any help at all. With the way the OKC organization is though, Brooks will play him 40 minutes.

Splits
05-24-2014, 04:36 PM
God helped him, fuck.

“I’m a tough guy, I’ve been through a lot when I was young,” said Ibaka, who walked slowly toward reporters while wearing a black sleeve that covered the entirety of his lower left leg. “Since I come here, nothing was easy for me. So I know it’s going to be tough. But I will put my mind ready. If the doc gives me the OK, I will be ready to go.

“I am the kind of guy, who, I believe in God, and when the team doctor told me I am going to be out for the rest of the playoffs, I did not believe it because I believe in God, and I know I’m here for a reason. So I want to just keep pushing, keep putting ice, do what I can control.”
