View Full Version : With the Return of Ibaka: Game 3 Is Must Win

If this game is even reffed 70-30 in favor of RefKC per par,

then the Spurs must win Game 3.

With Ibaka back, RefKC is INTERESTING again...

Which means the league will want a LONGER SERIES...

Which, as we all know, means the usual fix,

we've seen over and over...

The more the Nation gets behind Ibaka as he's playing,

even if he has negative impact in the beginning,

and the "heroism" involved,

the Spurs will be screwed.

I would not be surprised if he plays 12 mins in Game 3,

but in the announcers words,

"energizes" the team,

and RefKC get's it's usual fake 50 fta against us,

and the same scrubs that couldn't hit water

if they fell out of a boat,

will hit every fake freebie,

per par.

And ThunderRefs win by 10.

Might be moot if the officiating is as bad we've seen,

but if it's anywhere near the possible,

then this a must win game for the Spurs.

didn't read that diarrhea posted up above but regarding the Thread title IMO only game 5 is a MUST WIN for Spurs. (assuming OKC wins 3 and 4)

We needed to win G3 anyway to avoid the 2012 redux storylines if you're thinking along that tack.

If Game 5 has to be played, it's a Must Win. Whether it's 2-2 or 3-1. Get to 4 wins as fast as possible.

I will be interested to see the line for the Spurs. As of now, OKC is favored by two points. If Ibaka is actually cleared to play and the line moves more than that, IMO, I will bet on the Spurs.

I think the Spurs win game 3. They are playing so well, they are rested with these days off and POR GM3 in addition to hearing Ibaka "might be back" probably has them pretty damn focused.

Read my mind... playoffs have been a bitch to bet, especially the 1st round, this might be a solid opportunity

I'd attack him early and often don't shy away from it.. Test him and make him move and cut and react on D the whole first half.. Keep playing the same way don't change anything..

Game 5 is a must win.

Game 3 is not a must win.

Game 3 is not a must win. No series is ever a must win if you're up by 2 games. 3-1 going into game 5 is not a must win. 2-0 isn't either. Hell even 1-0 isn't a must win, good teams can steal the HCA back on the road.

i just know there is no way the spurs let off the gas pedal just because they're up 2-0. if they lose game 3, it won't be for lack of effort

Regardless of what happens in 3 and 4.....Spurs must get #5. Unless, of course they win 3 and 4......unlikely tho.

That would assume OKC wins both. Remember Memphis beat them twice and Clippers once and choked another away. Even if the refs are home cookin' the Spurs depth counter acts most of that. Leonard had 3 fouls in 15 minutes of action and the Spurs still bent over OKC.

The only team that has game 3 as a must win is OKC. Exactly. Especially if Ibaka plays. If he plays and they lose, it will cost he and his agent millions.

Game 3? No.

Game 4? Maybe.

Game 5? Yes.

Does anybody have any stats on what the win percentage is for a team with home court to go up 2-0 in a best-of-7 series?

I honestly have no idea what to expect from this game. It's such a mind fuck. The Spurs have proven to be the better team and have tons of confidence and momentum. But with the setting shifting to OKC, the return of Ibaka, a long-ass break between games, and memories of 2012 lingering...it's the perfect situation for OKC to not fall apart. Fuck those fuckers.

I'm just not sure how people think Ibaka (at 100% or not) will usher in the Thunder to 4 wins out of 5 more possible games. Even with Ibaka in their lineup they have never been able to win out like that.

This will end up being just what we needed, whether he plays or not this will refocus the team. I feel bad for him if he does play having to chase this team around on one leg.

Don't do it unless you're looking to get your cash box rocked. The Spurs might win but OKC is going to have an emotional homecoming. In the wake of a possible Ibaka return and facing a 2-0 deficit. OKC is going to come out hungry. I'll be shocked if the Spurs will be able to match the Thunder's intensity early and they could dig themselves a hole to deep to climb out of. I also expect the better all around games from Durant and Westbrook. The Spurs haven't won in OKC since 2012. Unless the line jumps to double figures, I would stay away. If the Thunder win a game in the series, it's likely to be this one.

I disagree for several reasons, but I digress. The fact is, with the Spurs being clearly the better team, any time they are getting points is a pretty big deal. Especially if it's 3+

While I agree that SA is in control and that the possibility of The Return is overstated, SA is not this much better than OKC even without Ibaka. Spurs are just riding high and while I think it's sustainable (meaning the looks), KD/WB are still very, very explosive areas and there are a few areas of concern IMO. Spurs are in phenomenal shape, but..

, but they will get their ass handed to them one game and might lose one other close one. This means Spurs in 6.

I'm a Spurs fan because I love the Spurs. Are you serious? I predict the Spurs will win in 6, only because they lose a close one and don't quite win in 5 and I have a PISS POOR attitude? Are spurs fans only allowed to predict a sweep every series?
