I guess Tony Brothers signed with OKC 2 years ago. Presti should offer him a contract extension to ensure playoff success in the future. :lol

Anyway, there's not a lot the Spurs can do to play worse than they did in Game 3. I expect them to play better and Ibaka to cool off.

Can't expect a guy to cool off by giving him wide open jumpers. I understand they like to give up those midrange, but that's Ibaka's bread and butter. They need to start contesting some of those and make him put the ball on the floor, otherwise it'll be 11/11 all over again

Ibaka won't cool off. Splitter always shits the bed against OKC... Austin Daye is the savior, he won't miss those open 3's he gives to Diaw... He'll keep Ibaka out the paint

They need to keep attacking ibaka that leg will have to be a little sore and yeah he'll block some shots but he's gotta foul eventually. The fucker is not gonna take a charge so go hard at him use his aggressiveness against him.

Joey Crawford is actually good on the road. Brothers is the death sentence in OKC though.

Agreed. Every time. Can't understand why Pop doesn't do that, except stubbornness. Last night I was yelling at the TV "This is just like 2012 when you wouldn't play Splitter".

Danny Crawford, Capers and Davis are reffing the Miami game tonight. So….the likelihood of either Joey or Tony is pretty high, imo. At this point I would actually prefer Joey to Tony. Tony is just so incredibly bad that you never know WHAT to expect.

Tony Brothers…often wrong but never in doubt.

game 4 is almost certainly Joey Crawford and Mike Callahan; my guess is that Bill Spooner will be their 3rd.

Monty McCutchen and Tony Brothers almost certainly have Game 5. My guess is that Jason Phillips will be their third.

Game 4:

Joey Crawford
Mike Callahan
Jason Phillips

Thought there was some chance Spooner and Phillips would swap places in my crew predictions above. Would have much preferred Spooner on the road to Phillips, but all of this comes down to Spurs playing better and rendering officiating irrelevant.

Joey over the past 3 years especially, has this I dont give a eff what you think MFer mentality when it comes to players and coaches.

Actually, the home team as only won 1/3 of the playoff games under Joey as head ref. IMO he was the ref I wanted to see tonight. let's hope he does a repeat performance.

Agreed. Joey is just a better referee than Brothers and it doesn't seem close. I'm terrified of Brothers in game 5 if it's at 2-2. Not to say he's going to screw the Spurs or Thunder of whatever, he's just a terrible ref. Anything would be possible.

If the lead ref is Joey Crawford tonight, chalk up a win for the Spurs. He HATES the Thunder. Last game he called in OKC was his infamous "LISTEN TO ME!!! LISTEN TO ME!!!!!" game, when he grabbed the ball away from Kevin Durant just before he shot a critical free throw against the Clippers (ostensibly to correct the team fouls showing on the scoreboard).... and then KD missed the free throw.

Is Tony Brothers the one with the unibrow? I would MUCH rather see him out there tonight.

They only time games are called fairly is when Danny Crawford is the ref. Who ever wins when he is the ref is the better team. He just can't ref all the games. He'll be there tonight I am pretty sure. If he is not, they want OKC to win the series. I will turn off the TV immediately if he is not there tonight.

With a 2-0 lead you can't blame outside factors if you get backdoor swept again. It's intellectually dishonest. Something's just mentally wrong with this team and they forgot how to finish.

FromWayDowntown

For those who want to worry about such things:

The league went to assigning 5 crew chiefs in the conference finals round in 2012 (there had been 6 chiefs in this round every year between 2008 and 2011; before that, it's hard to know with much certainty who the crew chief was in a given game).

In that configuration, the Game 1 chief in this round has also been the Game 6 chief in the same series. Thus, in 2012, when there both series went to at least Game 6, Danny Crawford was the crew chief for Game 1 of MIA/BOS (in Miami) and then was the crew chief for Game 6 of that series (in Boston) and Joey Crawford was the crew chief for Game 1 of SA/OKC (in SA) and then was the crew chief for Game 6 of that series (in OKC). Last year, Monty McCutchen was the crew chief for Game 1 of MIA/IND (in Miami) and then was the crew chief for Game 6 of that series (in Indianapolis).

This makes sense because it keeps the general rule (which is usually only broken in the Finals or for a Game 7 of an earlier series) that an official won't work two games in the same city during the same series.

If history holds, the Game 6 crew chief for MIA/IND should be Scott Foster and the Game 6 crew chief for SA/OKC should be Danny Crawford.

My early guesses are that either McCutchen or Danny Crawford is scheduled to be the chief for a Game 7 of MIA/IND and that either Foster or Joey Crawford is scheduled to be the Game 7 chief of SA/OKC.

Yeah, if the Spurs lose this series after being up 2-0 yet again, don't go blaming the refs.

FromWayDowntown
05-29-2014, 09:43 AM
I think the officiating is irrelevant if the Spurs play without aggression and as if this doesn't really matter.

I think McCutchen is probably the best official in the league.

Brothers is Brothers.

Goble is young; this is the first year that he's worked in the conference finals. The league has promoted him very quickly (he made the conference finals crew in his 5th playoff year, which is very fast). He will likely blow some calls tonight in favor of Durant and Westbrook.
