The SA bench has been an integral part of the Spurs successes, so who in your opinion is the best role player of the Spurs?

PS: Kawhi is disqualified.

Easily Green, however Diaw is the second most important due to his effectiveness on offense and defense and being a matchup nightmare for a lot of teams. Tiago is next, but his importance varies opponent-to-opponent, so he might be the most important in some situations, but typically Green and Diaw are a problem for most teams.

Green is a great defender and when he is on, he makes us virtually unbeatable.

Your question was kind of confusing, because initially you mention the bench, and then your question is about the "best role player" and then your poll list starters as choices. If I go strictly with "best role player", for me it's Splitter, with Diaw a close second. If I go with "best bench player", it's still Ginobili, even though I'm sure there's plenty of people on this board who think otherwise.

What's so confusing about it? Sorry that I mixed it up. Semantics are inconsistent, but you get the drift tbh.

It is most definately not Green. Green has some big games but is unreliable. I'd say Boris Diaw is our best. He can conteibute in many ways even when he is not scoring.

:lol @ Beli and Daye mentions tbh Ayres is missing btw

1. Green
2. Diaw - Tiago

Green and Splitter and it's not even close, tbh..they are 2 of the 3 best defensive players on the team and have been arguably the most effective Spurs in the playoffs..

Diaw is the most talented, and when he's aggressive/on his game, he's probably the best, but he disappears far too often, and unlike Green/Splitter, he isn't one of the 3 best defensive players on the team..

Tough one. Splitter is great defender and screener. Green is great defender and 3 point shooter. Diaw is great all-around bench player. Patty is great bench hustler.

It all comes down between Green and Splitter

Green is averaging the same ppg as Parker right now against the Thunder. If he's not reliable, what do you call Tony? Parker's numbers are even more embarrassing when you take into account that Green's one of our best defenders.

Splitter. He's become an outstanding two way player. If you think he's unimportant, you either didn't watch the first two rounds or don't understand what great defense on elite scorers looks like.

I mostly agree

I put Boris at 2 with Tiago. Diaw versatility is what makes him very important for the Spurs. Tiago can be a non factor in function of match ups, Miami being one tbh fwiw
Diaw is useful on every match up.

good Diaw it is for me. He's just a complete player and a matchup problem when he's on and aggressive. Can post up, can knock down the mid and long range jumper, great passer, excellent court vision. Defensively he can guard the perimeter too. Extremely versatile.

I feel Danny and Tiago can be more valuable on certain, specific situations, but Boris 2.0 has the tools to be much more damaging to the opposition a lot more times.

Diaw 2.0
Splitter/Green
Mills
Diaw 1.0
Belinelli

Voted for Diaw but damn its hard. Green is the inconsitent one, splitter great against PFs and C's but not worth that much against OKC/MIA, Diaw is so versatile.

After all it depends on matchups and Diaw may be the one of the three, that can contribute in most situations.

Green isn't completely reliable though, he doesn't give you production that you can depend on every game.. he has a big game or 2 then disappears for others. He's inconsistent. There is no doubt that Parker needs to produce more in order for us to win however if you are trying to say that Danny Green is as reliable as Tony Parker then you're smoking some good shit dude...

Diaw is Spurs's most important role player.

Green however makes Spurs almost unbeatable when he is on.

Yep, Diaw 2.0 is a matchup problem for every team. So frustrating that Diaw takes games off at times.

Diaw is so multi-dimensional and versatile. He can do a bit of everything. Danny Green -not so much....
