View Full Version : NBA: Team Religion vs Basketball Exegesis
There are those here who forego any logical, rational discourse on the game itself and refuse to participate in open discussion on the probabilities of outcomes in these games and instead choose to have faith in their team past the point of sanity.
Example:
Poster A: "Game 4 tonight, GO SPURS GO.. shit Spurs got this!"
Poster B: "Yeah I doubt it. I expect a repeat of last game"
Poster A: "Nah man, Spurs are the best team in the league, you'll see... they got this.. they got ref fucked last game, but they'll win this one"
Poster B: "The matchups are problematic for the Spurs, they rely on role players more than they should in the post season, their bench is great, but the stars have to perform at this stage and they basically can't do much if the Thunder are healthy"
Poster A: "You're a shitty fan... I think the Spurs will win... I BELIEVE in them... "
Poster B: "They might win, but I don't think they will, OKC would have to play pretty shitty for the Spurs to win in OKC"
Poster A: "That's because you're not really a Spurs fan... if you were you'd root for them to win instead of rooting for OKC"
There are some here who call it like they see it and they typically have better takes. Most of you though are just cheerleading faggots who don't know shit about basketball. It's no wonder you spend all your time looking for faggot memes and stupid ass gifs to pretend you're in some obscure forum crew. You faggots should die after regular season tbh.

Suck my dick OP the spurs are one of the greatest teams of all time but the league doesn't want us to win. They want OKC/HEAT or else there's no way we would ever lose to spearchucker and co. Suck my dick OP, suck my dick

What a stupid fucking nonsensical post. When that one is your team, it nullifies that vs the field bullshit since you're justa mindless droning homer.

This actually touches tangentially on the new schtick upstairs of calling a peer fan a "homer" as some sort of insult when there's disagreement. It's unfortunate Freud was too high on coke to properly analyze this type of interactions, tbh.

I'm poster B, though I do have shitty takes. Poster A is 90% of the Spurs forum.

DMC is a typical guy of slightly above average IQ who thinks he's smarter than he actually is, tbh... I'm not surprised he's using words incorrectly.

I see you also lack capacity for abstract thought. In court you're going to need to be able to not only grasp abstract concepts quickly, but apply them as well.
Since the title started off "Team Religion" it was fitting to use "Basketball Exegesis" as the alternative. There's no team religion in real life, since religion is the worship of a deity. However there is the abstract concept of team worship, and likewise the abstract concept of understanding the game of basketball without restraint from team affiliation and "belief", as it were. The same is true for the Bible. There is the religious insistence that the Bible is 100% factual, and that's fueled by fervent desire to believe not only in the God of the bible, but in the goodness and righteousness and omniscience of the same. Then you have the exegesis of the book itself, of the authors of the book and of the historicity of the characters within. That can be discussed without need for the caulk of faith to fill the logical seams in the carpentry of the books themselves. Often you find that the first group cannot have a rational conversation with the 2nd group, but can instead find support in like minded people who get together and bolster the notion that their beliefs are based in reality. Spurs fans often think their team is unbeatable unless someone is cheating them, because they are Spurs fans. If you try to discuss basketball itself, there's often a deer in headlights look to be had, like Jars Mesh Set... leaning on obscure logical fallacy accusations as an attempt to escape the shit sandwich he's about to eat in these here Western Conference Finals.

i just asked a question. i wasn't making any implications. it was simple yes or no question that required a simple yes or no answer

Yeah, that sounds all well and good to the fine folks of the south, until you realize the term "exegesis" is very specific and applies only to the analysis of written words, religious or not.
But please do continue the cover-up of your intellectual laziness, it is quite entertaining.

So if the thread title didn't refer to that book, why did you send images of it as responses?

Are there no written words here?

Yeah I didn't think so.
