View Full Version : This is like 2012 when we played OKC

No this series ain't like 2005 vs the Sonics... Or like 2007 vs the Pistons...

this is is like the 2012 WCF. Pop getting outcoached by a hipster. Spurs can't buy a free throw. Splitter is a one man OKC fast break. Barkley hating SA fat woman. Spurs go up 2-0, OKC dominates at home.

edit:
I agree, you also forgot to mention Brooks finding a lineup that works and Pop being unable to counter it.

It's still too early to say this resembles 2012. In any series with two great teams, it is expected that the home team will win the first 4 games. Game 5 is where shit gets serious.

Finally. Spurs homers are too blind to see this.

It's 2012 reloaded for a few reasons... Mainly the Spurs have not made any adjustments. They're basically "hoping" for a good game next time around. They're scared of Ibaka. They aren't attacking the basket. Fuck, their third string PG was more aggressive than their entire starting line up. NO WHERE ELSE in the league does a third string PG play better than the starters. It's absurd.

Last game I had a homer tell me that "every now and then Spurs will have a bad game" and that "Spurs will win Game 4." Newsflash for you... Spurs cannot beat OKC. It's like OKC was built as a Spurkiller. Fucking Derrick Fisher grabbing rebounds between two Spurs bigs? That's some inexcusable shit. Scrub ass Adams posterizing Duncan and shitting all over him? That's flat out pathetic.

This team needs Jesus. You go from blowing them out by 60 in the first 2 games, then shit the bed when they see a shot blocker lol. Talking about 2012, instead of Cory Joseph showing up the starters it was Stephen Jackson who was the only damn Spur with a pair. I thought it was clear to Pop that Splitter is no good against OKC (started Diaw in 2012) but I guess Pop does what Pop wants. Once Budenholzer and Brown left, Pop surrounded himself with biggot yes-men like Sean Marks and Udoka lmao. I still have hope they'll be another team at home, but you can't play this soft against Miami and expect to not get swept

He didn't make a mistake, he was jokingly referring to another thread that someone started on SpursTalk.

Yup exactly. Jackson played his heart out and his threes kept the Spurs in it back in 2012. Coaching staff has definitely gotten worse. Hell, I'll fucking say it. Our bench has gotten worse. Neal > Belinelli. Blair > Ayres. No way we win.

Part of me hopes they win despite Pop and his lack of adjustments or knowing the game of basketball when faced with adversity. Then there is a part of me that hopes this is it, so they can ride off into the sunset and Euroball is over in San Antonio. Perhaps then we get a coach that wants athletic players and it takes 6 or 7 years to be relevant but we can compete at a 4th and 5th gear when we need it.

Pop steals from Euroball but doesn't believe in fouling up 3.

He implicated a system, filling it with players that fit that system rather than just athletic players that could be coached up into good players. That's the flaw with his overrated stature. The Front Office does a good job of finding players to fill the niche style Pop plays but none of those guys can step up and take over a game outside of our 3 guys who we lucked into.

Euro style of plug and play players doesn't work in the long run. You need athletes who can get back into a game with freakish ability or at least counter act when another team does that.

The Spurs look beaten in their interviews, their comments.

They have the look.

I've never seen a team come back from that.

It's looking grim, but game 5 is the real statement. We'll know after then if we will win or lose tbh. I'm not calling it quits yet, but, game 5 is easily the biggest game in the series, even if we lose it and win 6.
