View Full Version : Kawi's block/steal/ Sean's Memorial Day Miracle

What is it about Memorial Day Week (May 31st)that gives us Spurs fans the greatest plays in our history?

Sean's was the rally point and the spring board to our 1st Championship and Kawi's play is probably the play that leads to Tim's last championship.

Kawi's play was not a miracle, but I'd rank it at #2 all time in our history as far as significance. Had Westbrook made that layup, Spurs could be having to get ready for Monday without Parke,r and also running on fumes after spending so much energy last night. I would not have liked our chances on Monday under those circumstances.

This can not be a coincidence.

Spurs are winning #5 this month. It is in the stars.

Nothing to do with Memorial Day. More like: WCF tend to fall on Memorial Day, and usually feature the most competitive games of the season.

Dude, quit poo pooing my correlation, this is a sign from God, just go with it.

Spurs use these two plays to give TD his bookend championships.

I don't know why, but for some reason whenever the Spurs win the title, they seem to do it in June. I don't know if it's crazy coincidence of if there are other factors at play.

If the Spurs ring this year, Kawhi's block will be second to that shot.

Play of the season so far but the Spurs have to close the deal. Parker's stepback 3 in Game 6 would have been arguably a top 2-3 play in Spurs history if they had finished the job tbh.

Where does Horry's game 5 shot rank then in Spurs history since it basically saved our title run and season?

#1 in my books, Pistons probably win that series if Horry doesn't go HAM on Detroit, tbqh

Lower. I would trade the 05 title for the 13 title in a second

I for one would not trade that for 013 title, that 7 game series vs the Pistons was a flat out battle! That title was special. I disagree there.

Why are you talking about taking away a title or trading titles and have Lebron in your avi etc. all the time now? Old time fan restored to that? :wow

I agree with you, that series was a flat out battle, great series and that shot defines it! Horry played his ass off. I have that at #1 or near it as well, flat out classic and in a great series.

I would in a second, to beat a 66 win Heat team that won 27 straight.

Teams of the early 00's and mid 00's would beat the shit outta that Heat team in a watered down league! 05 Spurs would have mopped the damn floor with that Heat team last year, period.

If I had to rank my favorites, they'd go

1. 1999 - Best Spurs team ever. No one could score on them in fourth quarters period.
2. 2003 - Shoving the * back up Phil's ass with the 110-82 beatdown in Staples, Tim's near quad-double, David winning his last game, Stephen Jackson burying bigmouth Byron Scott with some ridiculous assists from Manu
3. 2005 - Manu just killing shit, Rob with the greatest clutch performance ever by a supporting player, Manu and Rob stealing Game 2 in Phoenix
4. 2007 - Destroying Phoenix in Game 6

2013 would have been #3 on my list

Mugen

2013 would have been 1a or 1b for me tbh. Just like 2014 would if the Spurs managed to seal the deal.

If they win the title, I'd have the 2014 Spurs at #1, tbh..it would be one of the most unlikely title runs in league history..

sexinthatsx
06-02-2014, 01:07 AM
Every Spurs fan should have 2013 at #1 if they won tbh... Ducan and 38 years old, Ginobili at 33, and Parker at 31 winning a ring. It only solidifies the debate about Spurs being a dynasty even more considering the same core star players win.

explain May 31st 2012

There was no drama in 2012 on May 31st. The Spurs sleptwalked through that game, they had won 20 straight going into that game, they felt like they owned the Thunder and came out flat. May 31 when they really need a game, they come through.
