2. Duncan(historic purposes)

3. Green/Leonard/Diaw(it would be very fitting for a non-star to win on this historic Spurs team)

Manu.. 'cos thats the only thing that is missing from his illustrious resume.

Although, I would be fine if anyone wins it.

I hope TP recovers quickly. This is so much going to be his series.

Any Spur or co-Spurs as far as I am concerned, but it would be poetic justice for Manu to win it for all the idiotic fake Spur fan abuse he has had this year!

Baam
06-01-2014, 10:44 AM
I'm not sure Manu can get it, especially since Parker won't draw as much attention as last year, the rest between games is especially good for him but his game doesn't translate well against these aggressive traps...

Tim is the safe bet as Bosh is a sucky low post defender and the Heat won't want to double him cause you'll take Duncan post ups over TP and Manu destroying the perimeter D and involving everyone else...

Boris is the crazy bet, if he decides to take over consistently then all bets are off, could very well be the one who will force Lebron to defend on him this year instead of TP, would get Lebron more tired too.

Also "others" should be Diaw, there's no one else aside from these 6 that can get it.

anyone but ginobli. i wouldn't care if he averaged 45 ppg. they should still give it to duncan anyway for the way manu played last year. i just hope parker doesn't start his bullshit and tries to play to win the finals mvp instead of winning the game first.

Diaw. The guy has surprised so many people (including most folks on this forum). I am hoping he will have a huge series.
And if it is Diaw, it will mean that the Spurs won as a total team.

This. Manu is the only member of the big three without a Finals MVP, would be nice to get him one before its all said and done. Duncan getting his fourth would be acceptable as well. Other than that, don't have a huge preference.

I can get people wanting Tim to win. Even TP or Kawhi. But beyond the fact it would be an unreal redemption story, as HH said, I want Manu to win in it. He's the only member of the big 3 not to have a FMVP and with how incredible this big 3 is, there would be nothing more special for each of them to have their piece of history with that accomplishment.

I hope TP recovers quickly. This is so much going to be his series.

I assume Pop was playing it safe and didn't want it getting worse in the event a game 7 was needed, and thought a hobbled Parker wasn't going to be effective against the quick scrambling Thunder D. Let's see what comes out during these four days of rest.

Poll is ambiguous. Are we talking about the Heat or Spurs? For Heat FMVP it's 98/1/1 on Lebron/Manu/Wade winning.

For the Spurs? It's not going to be Manu :lmao. I'd bet $1M on it.

I'd say it's 95/4.999/0.001 on FMVP being Parker/Duncan/non-Manu role player who gets hot and shoots like 60% from 3 for 20 PPG+

You don't get Spurs FMVP for bricking 3s and turning the ball over. And, while Manu is incredibly valuable to the Heat his bricks and turnovers are competing with the best player on the planet in Lebron James, so Manu's chances at Heat FMVP are also slim (but still non-zero).

Tim Duncan would be the first player to win Finals MVP 15 years apart (Kareem won it 14 years apart)

And fuck the Manu redemption story, Tim would be the real redemption story...remember the missed shot in game 7, the floor slap, and the depressing post game press conference.

Doesn't matter. I don't think a guy coming off the bench will get it, not even Manu. He'd have to be a force every game. If the Spurs win, it will be Tony Parker getting it because Tony won't let anyone else beat him out of it. Tim might get it if he scrominates inside, but the Heat have other plans. I think James gets his 3rd tbh... but you never know. Hell, Spurs could sweep them for all we know.

But what about Manu?
Are you still being unreasonable and hating on him after his performance against the Thunder?
Do you doubt the Spurs are a TEAM oriented basketball team?
And do you own up to being unreasonable about it being solely Manu rather than the team as a whole who was at fault in last years finals?
Just asking.

Timmy would return to try to repeat. He'd have to take a pay cut so Leonard would get paid $$$$$. Why retire when he's still one of the best bigs in the game? I'd want TD to get it just to shut up the Kobe stans - no more 5>4. 4 FMVPs >> 2 FMVPs.

06-02-2014, 01:50 PM
I wish it hardly mattered to anyone but Parker really seemed to care which I'm sure at some level - whatever the percentages - hurt the Spurs chances at least some last year.

If we had won last season I wanted the whole team somehow to symbolically get the award. That or Duncan. This year obviously Manu getting it would be awesome but realistically Heat, who I think we're clearly better than, will be more like a Portland-like series for him unless he gets really hot. Paker's status and condition also dictate just how much playmaking or worse I guess, point he'll have to play which may not be great against Heat style D even if less intense than previously. Really, I would like Joseph to be trusted if Parker is struggling and/or if Mills becomes a liability.
