what were Tim's comments?
what were Tim's comments?
He said they were happy they got the Heat and that this time they would win. Wow, is that suddenly bulletin board material for the Heat? :lol

what were Tim's comments?
Tim Duncan: "We're happy that it's the Heat again. ... We've got that bad taste in our mouth still."
Tim Duncan: "We got 4 more to win. We'll do it this time."

Something along the lines of we'll get it this time. Been hearing/reading he lines and oddly I can't recall what they were exactly, but Tim said it post game.

Any little bit of extra motivation helps, even if it's drummed up. Lebron is one of the most sensitive athletes in the game so his comments are no surprise tbh.

I had a feeling that comment was going to go directly on the bulletin board in the Heat's locker room..
Good, I like the confidence from our leader.

I just can't see LeBron shooting as poorly from midrange as he did last year or Green being on fire like he was.
Still, no Mike Miller will help, and I think the Spurs are better this year than last.

What does a training camp like practice mean? That they went hard, or not hard at all? Sounds like the former but I'm not sure.

This series is going to be very interesting in regards to what happens matchup wise. Bosh is pretty much a SF at this point.

Heat are scared of the Spurs. Seriously, they know they lucked out last year. And this Spurs team is going to play with a Vengeance. That is the worst opponent to go against. I still remember that game in March when most here said the streak would end and the Spurs annihilated the Heat. I expect to see that same Spurs team to show up in this series.
As the last game showed, no more playing Chamlers or Cole on Diaw.

Exactly. If they have no 100% Birdman, then we will dominate them in the post. More Diaw, more Manu-Splitter PnR, more 4down in critical situations. We'll do what the Pacers stumbled upon last year but didn't have the discipline to continue. The Heat get bullied to death against talented bigs.

Well see what kind of job Battier can do guarding Boris. If they go with Shane at the 4 and go small that will be an interesting matchup. Lebron could even be forced to guard Boris if Boris keeps exploiting the mismatch.

I predict LeBron will have a solemn look on his face with his lips clenched together tightly to hide his frown at the end of this series. Maybe even from the bench. :lmao

The Heat may not like Tim's confidence or comments but they can't do anything about it. We are better than they are and if we are healthy, we'll win in 5 or 6. They are better than the Thunder defensively but they are weaker on offense. I'm looking forward to seeing the Spurs win it all.
Heat making public comments about it giving them motivation will get back to the spurs. It's actually a good thing because it means they know the heat will be ready.
But if either team isn't motivated anyway then shame on both of them

Maybe it changes this year but Lebron's jumper has abandoned him for long stretches in every single Finals series he's been in. I don't think he's shot over 30% from the perimeter in any Finals series and has lived on paint points for the most part.

this is stupid. using tim's quotes as if he joe namath'd the damn series or something. it was right after the game. he was excited to get to the finals and doesnt want to fuckin lose again and is ready to go. that's all. it doesnt matter though i'm more confident than ever we're gonna crush these ho's

Why is Lebron so salty? Tim is a competitor. Who wouldn't want to play a team that beat them in the finals? Has nothing to do with "not liking" them. Dude really needs to grow up. I guess he does whatever he needs to to self-motivate.

If they have to take Duncan's confident statement to get them going then they really the hungry and motivated team they used to be. They'd better watch out.

Heat haven't even played against a good team so far in the playoffs. They can have any kind of motivation, but once they play the Spurs, they will see the west is no east. I just wanna see Spurs take them down, 5, 6, 7 games, no matter how many games it takes. Just get that ring!

You can always count on the worst happening. I really, really wanted the Grizzlies to win so we wouldn't have to face OKC, and what happened? Well, of course we got to face OKC.
Now, who do you think the Heat wanted to face in the Finals, us or OKC? Well, what do you know? The worst (for them) happened.
They do know we're the only team who has a real shot against them, preventing them to get their so coveted threepeat. So yeah, let them get all the motivation they can gather. They'll need it.

LeBron on Spurs: "They don't like us. I can sense that from Tim's comments the past couple days."

Way to make it about you. The Spurs just want the bad taste from last year's loss gone. I really doubt any Spur sits at home thinking about how much they dislike the Heat.
I've never understood the need for this Heat team to manufacturer a chip for their shoulders, just go out and play hard every game.

Wade has a good sense of humor. Honestly I don't think either team hates each other. There's secretly probably great mutual respect and mutual "appropriate fear." This is all for theater.
This is all whipping it out for the measuring sticks.
Needing a ruse to get yourself psyched for the finals is a sign of a weak mind, imo.
rofl "They don't like us". Most sensitive fucking superstar of all time. Lebron is a top 5 all time player but he's honestly one of the most sensitive players ever.

:lol this is just hype-building, neither of these teams dislike each other, tbh..
As Bosh said, some of them are friends, and there's a ton of respect..Lebron has constantly discussed his admiration for the Spurs organization and has said that Duncan is the best player of his generation..
Last year's Spurs-Heat Finals was one of the cleanest series' that I can remember, tbh..no altercations, no bad blood, no ref complaints, etc..

I believe Tim knew what he was doing, too..he doesn't care about his legacy nearly as much as Kobe, Shaq, Lebron, etc do, but he's not an idiot, he knows what this series would do for his legacy in the eyes of the media and casual fan, tbh..
This is all hype-building IMO..
Obviously Tim's answer to the question was reactionary, as he was still pumped from just defeating OKC, but he's had a lot more swag to him this year, tbh, probably due to the new girlfriend..he even got a different haircut for the first time in his adult life, earlier this year, with a taper fade:lol..

TD is someone who can actually back up the talk. I have a feeling he's been saving the best for last. He's probably going to destroy the Heat in the paint. I don't feel he took advantage of his post scoring till later in the series. I'm going to go on a limb here but I think this could possibly be a sweep.

There's nothing "pragmatic" about that take. It's just a blind guess based on presumably tenuous reasons (possibly "eyeball tests" but I don't really care to speculate). How do I know that? Because every reasonable unbiased, stat-based prediction has the Spurs as favorites from point differential to playoff performance-based predictors and beyond.

This. I think even if the Spurs shoot bad in any of the games in the series, they will be 100% locked in that I don't see anyone of them quitting. Spurs got this.

If you mean the girl in the black bikini in my sig, it's Michelle Keegan, British actress.
Spurs are undefeated since I added this picture to my sig. They're also 2-0 since starting Bonner. Not that I'm the superstitious type, of course, but who would you rather trust? Bonner or her? :)

No way Danny Green catches fire like he did last year, but he's a great shooter nonetheless, especially at home. I don't see him shooting poorly in this series at all. A few a game is all we might need from him.
And yeah, the Heat lost Miller which is a big plus for our end because he's usually a clutch shooter. We got better and we're definitely hungrier.
