If Tony is so hurt that he's a detriment, I trust in Pop to figure that out quickly. If Tony is healthy he is arguably our greatest asset.

You are probably dead on. His injury last year cost them the finals IMO, if he is hurt nearly as bad as game 3 last year or not near 100% the Spurs are not going to win it.

I could see him playing about 28 minutes in game 1. About 7 minutes a quarter. Mills and Joseph need to produce. I'd probably even favor Joseph given he is a better play maker.

While it would be nice for Parker to play at peak level and help the Spurs dominate the Heat, the reality is that Parker has been extremely bad in the playoffs and the Spurs have actually played better when he's on the bench, statistically, tbh..

If he can play at peak level, the Spurs can beat Miami in 5-6, but there's really no reason to believe he can play at peak level for an entire series(considering his injuries, age and the fact that he played last Summer), so it'll be a toss-up series..

Spurs can win without Parker, as long as Pop doesn't stubbornly leave him on the floor when he's struggling, since it would hurt the team..thankfully, Pop has already shown that he isn't afraid to bench Tony when he doesn't have his legs..

The truth is that he hasn't been that bad... Dallas whole gameplan was based on limiting him... Besides he's playing with shitty spacing or Matt Bonner the defensive liability all POs... Give him Boris who is playing his best bball since 2006 in the SL and all a sudden his advanced numbers will skyrocket...

He hasn't been good either by his standards but still, he's far from hurting the team, if a team didn't have to worry about him and based their whole gameplan on Manu we'd have a turnover record in the making... I really don't see how you can imagine a win without Parker, seems farfeteched to say the least... Mills can't run the point, he's a midget chucker, Joseph is well... a 13th man...

This post is logically troubling. You contradict yourself. First you suggest that Parker is valuable to the team, as "anything less than 80%" would cause a loss. Then you suggest that Parker is more detrimental to the team. Which is it? If you think he's detrimental, then you should not think his injury will hurt the team.

TP had three great games against Portland so he probably deserves credit for that series. Sucked against Dallas and OKC though. Looked 40 years old in the Mavs series and is the primary reason why that series went seven games(when it should have been over in five). Westbrook dominated him in the Conference Finals. TP ended up quitting on the team in the pivotal game 6. Thankfully Manu and Duncan got the job done.

In the last half of the finals last year, Miami got it right in terms of how to defend those Spurs. They bodied up on shooters and had long defenders guard TP (in the end with LeBron). The problem was Duncan went off and had a monster couple of games because then the Spurs posted him up a lot.

So it will be difficult to defend the Spurs with or without TP in the lineup, because they play that kind of egalitarian basketball. There is no typical " we have to slow this one guy down" NBA defensive scheme. The Spurs can have huge nights from random guys like Danny Green, Boris, or Kawhi, that just ruin the other team's chances of winning. If the big 3 play and are all held to under 20 points each, but Danny Green hits like 4 threes or Boris or Kawhi has a 15/5/5 line, the Spurs are almost unbeatable.

The only thing that can beat them in that case is basically 2 (not 1) but 2 starts going supernova, like KD and Russ can do. I'm not sure Wade can do that again at this stage of his career. So basically, the Spurs just have to stay at home on Bosh and Wade, and limit LeBron's playmaking. He may get his 30-40 (a la Amare in the 07 Suns series), but he won't involve everyone else.

that some heavy short cuts tbh against Dallas ya he struggled but had 2 very solid games 1 and most important 7. against okc he played great first two games and had a solid game 5 that's 3 games over a serie of 6

and :lol @ your he quit on the team

He is clearly not playing like last year but you have to give credit to Pop for finding ways to rely less on him

Well, while I normally defer to a medical degree, I would, in your case, disagree.

Tony had a grade 2 hamstring strain in last year's finals. That has been well documented. And unless you have the documentation to show otherwise, you should probably stop yourself from saying crap like that.

Last year after he got injured he had about three full days off and came back with a 26 point effort in the game 5 win. The next two games were eveery other day games when his leg didn't have time to heal.

Did you see what happened to Ibaka this WCF? He had a grade 2 calf strain, took about 6 days off, had a monster game the first game back, and then had diminishing returns for the balance of the series...JUST EXACTLY what happened to Parker.

This is the key. Will Popped pull Parker if Parker is sucking?
While Pop seems to be maturing as he gains coaching experience, hence his pulling parker in Game 6 vs OKC, he really waited too long imo and there is his own
precedent which is troubling. Last years Game 6 Manu Turnobili was playing like ass with 8 (eight!) turnovers, he was literally the Heats MVP and yet Popped stubbornly left him in.

2008 GNob was likewise obviously hobbled. Instead of going earlier with Brent Barrdawg who delivered in Game 5, Popped waited til the Flamers were up 2-1.

Floyd Pacquiao (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=32266) All he has to do is make the right basketball play and not force anything. Take what they give.
Which Parker has shown he is pretty shakey on this when his own chucks are not falling.
Again, it will be up to Pop to show faith in Mills, CoJo etc and win this as a TEAM.
No more sacred cow bullshit that costs Championships.

this.

I think Parker being injured this season (ironically from his own selfishness to play hard in the summer and heal on company time) has been a blessing in disguise. It's given Mills and CoJo much more minutes, especially in the playoffs when shit can hit the fan, so they're far more experienced.

I'd like to see Parker still come in for spurts, go MVParker mode and do some good things. Even when he's fully healthy, he tends to go from MVParker to Enrique, wasting too many possessions or disappearing on defense. If he's not reliable, Pop can throw in Mills or CoJo, who can't penetrate like Parker, but excel at other things he's not good at. So it's a nice change up, not to mention Manu, Kawhi, Green et al getting better.

He'll play about 30 minutes for game 1 as the Spurs will have 2 days off between Game 1 and 2. Depending on how he feels after that then we will see what they do for game 2 going forward.. It will help that he is home for the start of the series to get treatment till game day and have it right after.
