hmm this kinda throws a wrench in my opinions of "America hates the boring Spurs" and "Americans don't appreciate beautiful basketball" and "stupid Americans just want to see some dunks and then go back to watching vampires, zombies, comic book movies and Kardashians..."

I think most of them strongly hate the Heat more than they love the Spurs. They just don't want the Heat to win 3peat.

I think it more a sentiment favorite / heat hating.

Lakers fans want to see the Spurs win almost as bad as Spurs fans do. They're petrified at the idea of a Lebron threepeat.

Nah. Only ~340,000 people have voted and I'd wager that most of those votes are driven by a dislike for the Heat than a love for Spurs basketball.

Nah...a hatred toward how that team was assembled resonates with a lot of basketball fans still after all these years.

Yep, we've become the Joe Fazier to the Heat's Ali. People who hate the heat root for us because we're the best hope to defeat them, not because they're particularly emotionally attached to the Spurs.

Also we're a kind of underdog story with these "old guys" coming back to fight and usually America loves to cheer for the underdog, which is the role we're playing considering how we lost last year and how the Heat are two-time champions going into a possible threepeat.

If we believe in marketing fixes...then...the NBA has to give the Spurs the title.

I think this is good news. Might lead to better or more respectful officiating.

Sure, if Spurs can win this Finals, that will lead to lot more bandwagoners, but if bandwagoners are your biggest problem as a team, you have it pretty good.

its utterly storybook for the spurs to win and the nba loves storylines.
