Sounds like you should take her to the vet. I doesn't sound too good. Hope she is okay though.

First off , I am a man who can't even afford to go to Retama dollar night, So my dog has never been to the vet, And since she is a female, I don't think it's an erection.

If it's not fixed than it is probably in heat. If it is fixed, it probably has some kind of vaginal infection. Rub some aloe on it.

It must be in heat, I saw another dog on a Google search and it's vagina looks puffy like Sophie's. Anyone here have a male dog so we can make puppies?

Vulvar swelling - Heat

Q: Dear Mike,
I am writing because we have a dog who seems to be having some problems. We are currently living and working in China. We bought the dog here as a puppy. The man we bought her from couldn't tell us how old she was. Due to our limited vocabulary in Chinese, we can't really take her to a Chinese vet. Could you help us please??

At first, we noticed bleeding from the vaginal area so we presumed that this was probably normal. But now it has been 8 days, and the swelling of the vulva is increasing. Also, the discharge is now more clear & oozy-looking whereas it started as bright red blood. Today we noticed that the nipples (or whatever you call them on a dog?) have also increased dramatically in size. She does not appear to be behaving abnormally though
she frequently will rub her bottom on the ground. We do not believe that she has had any contact with any male dogs. She is strictly a house dog. Appetite & such are good. If this is heat, it's her first one and we're just ignorant dog-owners. How long does it usually last?? How frequently does it occur?? Any assistance you could give us would be appreciated.

Sincerely, K. F.

A: K.F-

It sounds like your dog is in heat. The estral period in dogs normally lasts about 21 days but that can vary a lot. At first there is bleeding with vulvar swelling, then the bleeding slows or stops for a week or so. This period of no bleeding is the fertile period in the heat cycle. Then there is a return of bleeding but usually less than before
and that goes on a week or so. The variability in length of heat cycles in bitches is pretty drastic. Some bitches are thought the whole process in two weeks or so and others drag it out for 4 to 6 weeks and sometimes even longer.

If you don't want her to have puppies keep the male dogs away from her!

If you have reason to believe she is not in heat (if she is spayed for instance), please write back with a progress report on the problem.

No problem. I would love one, but... we're not really in a position to have a dog. Someday...

She's in heat mouse...if you don't want her getting pregnant, then do everything you can to keep her away from male dogs. Never underestimate the ability of a dog to get to a female. They'll find a way.

But yes she's in heat, speaking of which, my dog is due in about a month...I'm taking her to the vet next week.

Well you should definitely get her together with a dog that's like her. Not exactly her breed but at least her size.

Regardless, seeing dogs have sex is quite a weird thing to see. Especially since after he's done he stays stuck inside her for about 20 minutes. It happens, and don't ever try to seperate them. It could cause damage to both of them.

But about after a week of this you'll probably want to seperate her from the male dog, she won't stand him anymore after she's out of heat. Then you'll wait around 60 days and she gives birth.

Kinda like watching our parents have sex?

Good thing he is not paying by the minute.

I think most of the damage is done already by this time. :lmao

A week? what do you feed your dogs, Viagra?

One other thing. I rescued our dog and the shots, kennel cough medication, and her spaying were dirt cheap. I went into the clinic the rescue society provided and told them I was unemployed, and I got out of there for less than $60.

Maybe those guys that were putting together a fund for GiG to come to SA will start a fund for Sophie. I'm good for five bucks.

Well that's how long she is in heat, after that period (no pun intended) she wont want the male dog around at all.

It's around 60-63 days...some smaller breeds of dogs might be less than that. If you do get her pregnant, the birth is quite an experience, I don't think I slept much the first two weeks she had them. Since it was winter time it was too cold to keep them outside so I kept them in my room.

I woke up at least 4 times a night just to make sure nothing happened like she layed on them or they climbed out of the box. But it was great and worth it.

Well if she's not sick now she won't be getting anything too bad yet. Unless she gets hip problems or something.

But regardless, if she does have puppies you really should take them to get vaccinated especially for parvo. That is just the worse thing a puppy can die from, that's what my dog died from. It was painful watching her be sick and die.

Okay, first of all, why in God's name would you do such a thing? Leave your dog's weiner alone!

Secondly...

That's exactly what it's like to be a new parent, only 10 times so. :)

Like I said she is from the southside,. so she is 1/4 blue healer 1/4 Aussie cattle dog, and 2/4 Hienz 57 :smokin

I think there is a pitt in there somewhere when she was getting her ass waxed by God knows how many half breed dogs in the Military drive area,

She is real smart, when she wants to go outside she will lay her head on my wrist that is on my mouse. I use a lazy boy to surf, I have the keys on my lap and a track ball mouse on the arm rest,

can she do any tricks??
If I say kiss? she will get on her back legs and put her snout on my lips.

It's funny when she sees other dogs she will lay on her bacy and let them lick away, But certain dogs she gets this strange Mohawk from her head to her tail and she will growl. when I get under the blacket she will attack me and when she feels my hand she wont nibble, she is very friendly and is great with kids,

If she has puppies you better get one you won't be sorry,

can she de-seed a stash?

funny you ask that, she loves to eat the stash I leave on the plate, and she loves stems.

im trying to teach my dog how to roll a spliff..

It's not a good Idea they leave it to wet when they are done

.
i think hes got it down but the little bugger always smokes about half of it before i can catch him...BAD DOG, BAD!! then i have to take him to sonic or else he pees on the bed.

i have heard two schools of thought on this subject.

1 dogs eat grass to aid in the digestion process

2 because it tastes good

i have two dogs one male one female, the boy loves to eat anything. including any veggies even jalapenos. the girl on the other hand will eat everything i put in her bowl but she will leave anything that is plant matter. picky bitch. but when i play with them outside she still eats grass...go figure.

im pretty sure the reason the eat it is a combination of the two.
