token Spur, tbh... but this is what I mean when I say this is his team now...

Parker finally reaping the rewards of his improved reputation around the league (a couple of years finishing in the top 5 MVP voting certainly helps with that). Just like Howard has no business being on the 2nd team, CP3 or Kobe being on the All-Defensive team, etc. Given how many timesTony was snubbed, I say he certainly deserves it.

Yup. Would have loved the Spurs to possibly ring without an All NBA teamer but, still, good for TP's Resume tbh.

A lot of people say he is best PG in league. Well deserved. Good job, now go out and prove you are the best PG, and get that 2nd Finals MVP.

In the F'ing Finals dude. A place where every first team all NBA player wants to be and would trade places with him, except Lebron.

Well said. He deserved it other seasons when he didn't make it, so it all evens out in the wash.
On a different note, I wouldn't be surprised if this is Harden's last year on First Team for a while. His rep really took a hard hit about his defense this year during the playoffs. And we all know these lists are about rep as much as performance. Look for CP3, Westbrook, Lillard, and Curry to fill up the guards spots the next few years with Harden being a 3rd teamer, occasional 2nd teamer, and perhaps "no" teamer a few times.

Wow no Westbrook?
Curry should have made the first team over either Harden or CP3.
5 point guards and only one SG, kinda telling...
Noah has been extremely overated this season, DPOY, first team and 4th in the MVP voting... No offensive move at all, got schooled by Nene like he was a total scrub...

His defense isn't even that great. Very unimpressive in the impact stats. Not surprised that Gortat shit on him in the playoffs too.

Sort of. He was the 3rd alternate with 63 points and 1 first place vote.
Kawhi also got 1 vote.

Love Noah but god damn, seeing those 3 center picks makes me miss the 90s.
I'm pretty confident Rik Smits would make a a bunch of all NBA teams if he played today.

Parker didn't deserve any all-NBA team, let alone 2nd, but a lot of this is based on reputation, so it makes sense that he received the honor after his superstar-caliber season in 2012-2013..
The competition at guard is pretty weak, to be fair, as Lillard and John Wall are both really overrated, tbh..good to see that Dragic made it, he absolutely deserved it..
Curry being snubbed from the 1st team is ridiculous, especially since Chris Paul missed time and his team didn't suffer without him, but that's typical Chris Paul media/coaches love..
A role player(Noah) making all-NBA 1st team is pathetic, tbh..he can't create his own shot in any form, his defensive metrics show that his value is overrated(especially in Thibs' system, where any player can look good on defense), and his "elite passing", while great, was a product of a desperate offensively-depleted team(worst offensive weapons in the NBA) utilizing a high-post game that isn't game-planned for during the regular season..
Once the playoffs arrived, the Bulls' high post-game was no longer effective, as the opposing team actually game-planned for it, and Noah doesn't have a counter-move to attack the defense:lol..

Howard easily had a superior season to Noah and is a much better player overall but voters aren't putting two Rockets on the 1st team...
The release of this was so delayed this season, I wonder if Howard was originally on the 1st team and the league covered it up after they got bounced in the 1st round tbh :lol

This is TP's 4th all nba, right?
Parker made it b/c the team with the best record in the NBA and the team that is playing in the finals has to have someone on one of those teams. Parker didn't have as good a season as last year, but no question he's a top 3 point guard in the NBA, so he should be on the list. The bigger omission is Duncan not being one of the top 3 bigs centers in the NBA and Jefferson being the 3rd best big in the NBA. What have we come to?

It's funny how everyone (including the media) ignores defense when it comes to ranking, say, Duncan over Kobe in terms of player legacies but Noah's defensive reputation alone is enough to propel in to 1st team All NBA.

So you'd take Noah over Howard? Noah over Duncan? For let's say, alpha dog status. Yes even this late in TD's career it's not ridiculous that it's even an option between him and Noah because that scrub can't score for shit.

Same deal with Tyson Chandler. Get a near max deal salary - can't shoot, no post moves, can't take anyone off the dribble. Bulls started this when they gave Ben Wallace 15 million/year.

Davis is a huge snub though and Curry had a better season than Chris paul

I am a basketball fan not just a Spurs fan. Tony deserves this recognition. He is a basketball legend internationally and I frankly consider Spurs need him to fire in the finals. As a champion he will rise to the challenge. He is an achiever that has worked hard ; I doubt some of the knockers on this forum do either of those things.

How? Harden was clearly the best SG all season long, regardless if he had a terrible 1st round. James and Durant are two of the best players since Jordan. While Paul should have been on the 2nd team, its not a terrible selection. Even Noah won DPOY....It's a really damn good All NBA 1st Team on paper IMO.
Speaking on Parker, I'm always thrilled for any individual recognition the Spurs get. As the window closes, any individual accolades (Pop's CotY, RC's GMotY, All NBA, All Defensive team, etc.) only speaks volumes about how great the organization has been for a really long time.

Right on, man. I'm happy Tony received this honor ever though statistically it wasn't his best season. Too bad Timmy, Danny Green or Tiago Splitter didn't receive any recognition as well. They really were/are a team in every sense of the word this season.

Even those of us who love Manu get really tired of the passive-aggressive left-handed compliments to Tony that some of the 'Manu-uber-alles' types consistently hand out (yeah, I'm lookin' at you, Nono). As in "people won't remember the season" or "finally he did something" or "token Spur".
Manu is and has always been my favorite Spur, but man I get sick of the "if you are appreciative of Parker then you have to hate Manu" and vice-versa.
TP has always beaten Chris Paul in any head-to-head match up in games, but Paul always gets the 'first-team' or 'best in the NBA' title because the system that Parker plays in requires him to head up an offensive set that involves lots of passing by folks that are not the pg, and that often have shots taken after the second or third pass of the offensive set, so his assists are rarely as high as those of a pass-first guard, and the type of offensive set the Spurs employ means that he is not going to score as much as score-first guards.
Most every player on the Spurs team forfeits individual stats to the team winning. It is the hallmark of the Spurs system. Thus, the fact that Parker led the spurs to the best record in the league this year (even missing more games than last year and not playing at the MVP level he played at last year) is not enough for some to appreciate what he does.
Manu and Tony are both contributors to this team, and the team is diminished without both of them. It is not, as some seem to insist, a zero-sum game.
And praising one does not require any back-door slights or put-downs of the other.

:lol I love Tony Parker, I only have words of gratitude... not sure what you're talking about, tbh...
I know some fans here hate on Tony to prop up Gino and vice-versa, but I've never been like that. There's even pictures somewhere around this place of me celebrating a Tony game-winner...
I also don't even know why people think I always give Gino a pass or anything like that, I've been harsh on him too when he truly deserved it...

Saying Parker got the "token Spur" selection for the All Star Game and All NBA Team isn't a stretch at all tbh. He had a down year this season that was plagued by injuries. If anything, that's a compliment to TP considering he had such a terrific season last year.
I'm happy he got recognition but it is what it is tbh, since Lillard/Dragic had better regular seasons than him.....

That's the thing, this wasn't an award amongst Spurs, it was the entire league, and I personally think Tony had a down year (especially compared to how he looked like last year).
That said, I'm thrilled he added another perk to his illustrious career, this has nothing to do with Manu at all... not sure why Parker-uber-alles thinks this is personal or anything like that, tbh...
I've also criticized other selections too... Lebron should've been there in the 1st team, and CP3 on all-defense team is a joke, IMO...
