(http://grantland.com/features/nba-finals-game-6-heat-spurs/)Pretty painful read. Only do so if you are comfortable being reminded how close we were last year. I hate Ray Allen.

Yup. I have no idea why I continue to read these stories. Still feel queasy thinking about it.

Jesus. I had to stop half way through. Can't imagine being a player.
Yeah, I couldn't do it. I got to the point where he started talking about Ray Allen backpedaling and decided not to go any further.

Cathartic read because we have a chance to rid this from our minds forever. Not many get that chance.
Fuck that shot and Ray Allen. That should've never had happen. Now we have Heat fans talking all sorts of shit. No way were they a better team last year.

Would have beaten the Heat in 5 if Manu had never played for Argentina. He looks rejuvenated this year with the extra rest. My fear is that the same thing is going to happen this year with Parker playing like a TOSB instead due to his dumbass decision to play international ball. Hopefully, Manu/Duncan can carry the team through one more round.

Good read tbh
Yeah, Simmons brings it in print. Terrible as an analyst live, though.

Thanks to the client...let's see if he redeems himself this year.

He has nothing to prove, tbh... BTW, I assume the "consolation prize" you mentioned a while back is still waiting for the Spurs to shit the bed so it can be pinned on Manu? :lol

The being a multi-millionaire probably cushions the blow significantly.

I actually love reading this story because it reveals how incredibly lucky Miami was to win. Simmons did a really good job of illustrating every detail of the crucial plays and how improbable they were.

Everytime I watched a spurs game this year and they bring up the finals last year, accompanied with footages, I just mute the TV and avert my eyes. True story

its a rare opportunity and what would anyone do if they got a second chance on something they know they HAD the first time around and let slip?

I read it, just because Bill Simmons is straight to the point and keeps it real about everything. But yeah, it hurt reading that shit still. Being so damn close and then all of that happening in a span of 28 seconds is completely unbelievable. Simmons goes on to say that 99 out of 100 times the Spurs win that game, and why did this have to be the 100th time? Why did this happen to Duncan? It sucks, but it is simply amazing that Pop and the players have come back from that to this moment now. That happened, it's in the past, now go and get this shit done...

Nope, it was painful enough watching the whole thing the first time last year. I don't need to be reminded, I am not a masochist. I don't dwell on it either, so I let it all go last summer.
I prefer to look on the bright side of things and hope that they win it all this year.

It sucks what happenned but I think winning it this year would be considered one of the most inspirational sports stories of all time. It would show resiliency on the highest level, I like his comparison to 2004 Red Sox. The year before they had a 5-2 lead in game 7 of the ALCS, of course they melted down, gave up 3 runs, and Boone broke their heart with that walk off. Of course the next year the Red Sox pulled off one of the greatest accomplishments in sports.
Gritted my teeth, read it, and ready to put that shit to bed once and for all.

Kick their asses.
It's a game. It's not like someone's family member died. All those involved went back to their mansions and did no work for months, ate expensive meals and rubbed elbows with the socially elite. I don't think anyone's crying except the fans who aren't really even part of the organization.
Oh I know, let people have their moment. it's been a year. Get over it.

I'll read it if we win this year, then I won't feel so bitter. If we don't, no thanks, despite how interesting it might be.

I notice other teams broadcasts always do this when the Spurs are beating their team like a drum.

Yup...being filthy rich kinda takes the sting out of it. You think LeBron cared all that much after the Mavs denied him his first ring in 2011? He just went out and drove his fast cars and enjoyed his $$$.

Last year's heartbreak will make this years ultimate victory that much sweeter. It will be a comeback story for the ages. :hat

I'm a big Simmons fan, but the first 2/3s of this read are not only painfull to Spurs fan, but also pretty boring if you saw have seen the game.
Also sux, that I feel ill at the moment and now its even worse because of his status at the time.
Either read it now or if we have won the Finals!
There is no way you can read it, if we lose now.

Fuck. Promised to watch game 6 with my girlfriend before this Finals start.
Just moments ago, while searching for the file, I put on the last 30 seconds of regulation already (not sure why).
Stupid me!!!! :bang
The Allen stop the clock foul on Manu.
The timeout where they show LeBrons face.
Spurs players returning to the court (not celebrating, but looking focused).
I could see the fucking yellow rope on the baseline!
The rebound after Brons miss (btw.: Manu by no means boxes out textbook style and if he did, he would have gotten the ball).
Ahhh fuck, I need to stop!
No way we are losing this one!
Go Spurs Go!

I agree, and correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they heap praises on the Spurs right before bringing this up?
