Sounds like we're in for an epic performance from Kawhi. 26-11/game most likely

You mean the super dunk baptism of Serge Ibaka after he broke Durant's ankles then punched through a Westbrook raking steal attempt that wasn't called a foul?

Yeah then he might make it as high as #6 on ESPN's top plays again. :lol

If he can contain LeBron then I really don't care what he does on offense. His primary job this series will be just to make sure that James doesn't go off. Anything else is icing on the cake tbh.

Well we will fail at that. He has to score to make up all that Lebron playmaking ability that is unstoppable.

Agree. Leonard needs to score otherwise we are toast. We know he will defend well, buts its on O where we ll see if he grew

He needs to go to the offensive glass like in game 6 and 7 of last finals .... then he will get easy points as well

Kawhi will use most of his energy on guarding Lebron and Wade. While Lebron and Wade will have to exert alot of energy on both sides of the court, Kawhi will be focused on playing passing lanes and making Lebron and Wade guard him one on one. Will be interesting to see how Leonard will be successful in his developing post game against the Heat as well. I expect Leonard to have a great series really making a name for himself on the defensive end. By the end of this series, Kawhi will be viewed as the best defensive wing player in the NBA.

i'd rather he contain Wade. LeBron becomes more bitchmade when big brother isn't holding his hand.

I do believe Kawhi will play his absolute best in these Finals.

Sugar K knows what to do. I think he will probably guard James, and be relieved by Diaw.

We got Green for that. The difference with Green this year, is now that he has a midrange game and ability to drive to the basket, he'll make Wade work more on defense.

That play was only #6 on ESPN's daily highlights the day he did it lol

If it was Wesbrook or Durant it would have been #1 of the week

Well to be fair there were several women's college baseball and obscure golf highlights that couldn't be denied.

And iirc even the anchor made a remark about the placement.

I kept waiting for his block in #s 1-5 and have 2 of the top ten, but it wasn't to be. His block was more impressive.

Leonard does have considerable playoff experience for a third year player. I wonder who will be guarding him out of the gate tomorrow.

What do you mean? We saw it in the Portland series. He may not have a great midrange game, but the fact that it exists has to make people worried about closing out too fast on him.

I have more faith in Bonner putting the ball on the floor than Green.

DG needs to focus on spot-up 3's (maybe an occasional 3 in transition) and hard-nosed D. That's it, all.

I don't think Green should try to do much off the dribble. More often than not it turns into a bad play. If someone closes out and chases him off the 3 point line taking one or two dribbles and gathering for a shot is ok but when he tries to go to the rim it's usually going to be a horrible miss or a turnover.

Quick decisions are a must, Kawhi needs to pick his battles on the offensive end and making quick decisions will add to his success. Sometimes he has a tendency to second guess his decision halfway through his move, whether that's dribble drive or pulling up to shoot a jumper he'll hesitate, double pump or hang in the air too long.

the return to the finals will be great for kawhi, so much early exp deep in the playoffs is bound to pay dividends on his development.

it's cool that it's miami again, might help some of the newer guys (green, mills, leonard) being the same city again, they'll feel like they were just there.

Agree. But he took his knee and limped after a collision with Ibaka in last minutes of game 6.
Nobody -Spurs staff or players- made comments about that, maybe because the teams don't show weaknesses and talk about the injuries in playoffs (who knows Tony aggravated his injury in game 4 OKC series? nobody knew the truth, until he left the court in game 6)
However, I hope he'll be fine.

Yeah, I saw him limping then too. Nothing was ever mentioned of it. So it could have been just a stinger, or something worse. SA won't tell us.

I heard it was a cramp at the end of the game. The collision during the game didn't seem to linger much if at all.

Leonard is labron's arch rival! He's bulit to guard Labron, not KD. I honestly think our hope lies with Leonard's ability to slow Labron. Danny Green will handle old ass D.Wade!

Kawhi is the reason why Lebron has that second ring now. Lebron will be more than happy to meet him on the court so Kawhi can hand out another ring.

Quick decisions are a must

Absolutely true!! But not just for Kawhi - for ALL the Spurs on offense, starting with TP.

Miami is so quick that they will recover from being out of position super fast. Our ball movement is gonna get disrupted for turnovers and transition points if we don't make fast decisions on the ball - passing or dribbling.

Lebron doesn't respect Leonard's game and Kawhi flies under the/his radar? Well... this is really, really good for the Spurs!!!.

That guy was talking out of his ass. Lebron does respect Kawhi's game as evidenced by his reaction when Kawhi checked back in a game last year.
