I'm born and raised in New Mexico, and lived in San Antonio for years. I like mariachi bands. Perhaps a better way to word it is, I have a respect for performing musicians, and I don't dislike mariachi bands.

But that's not really the point. San Antonio is a tourist town with a strong Mexican heritage. It's not like fucking mariachi bands are roaming the streets begging for money. If you don't like them, it's pretty easy to stay out of the touristy areas.
