View Full Version : Heat: Am I the only one who thinks Lebron becoming GOAT is good for the sport...

Jordan as Goat resulted in a lot of egotisitcal one on one players, criminals, awful teammates, selfish players etc..

If lebron becomes GOAT, you will have kids that look up to players that pass the ball, defend, a good family man, doesn't gamble..

He's a top 5 player of all time, and IMO if he wins another ring and wins 4 total as the best player..

IMO, he should be considered GOAT.

If the spurs lose this year, It would be sad...But I think I'd be really happy for Lebron.

overall he's good for the sport, but joining up with other superstars forever fucked his legacy.

not to mention, he still hasn't overcome his toughest opponent....

Everyone liked MJ. No one likes LeBron. For the obvious reasons....

The "obvious reasons" are the rise of social media and the 24-hour news cycle, as well as the trend towards blatant trolling of athletes in sports media (such as First Take) instead of the jocksniffing that Dad Killer received, tbh.... DK never faced the level of Media scrutiny that LeBron faced and there was no Twitter to expose his gambling addiction and the terrible way he treated his teammates to the widest possible audience....

Btw, not everybody liked Dad Killer, but before social media, it was easier for Media to pretend that everyone loved an athlete and try to make it true by reporting nothing but positive stories....

Jordan played a large part in hurting the game of basketball by spawning an entire generation of ISO-ball, tbh..

Most kids are unaware that he's one of the biggest pieces of shit on the planet and one of the worst teammates ever, so I don't think that matters, tbh..

Lebron is one of the most unselfish players of all-time, and he's leading an era of basketball that promotes ball-movement, skill and complex systems/schemes..hopefully his success will help influence more team-oriented stars, going forward..

He's like Magic Johnson + defense and without Aids..

Media still slurps him to this day because Stern leaned so heavily on Dad Killer as a crutch for the league's marketing, so it's not a surprise that casual fans still buy in....

MJ never showed the cro-magnon signs that Lebron is exhibiting. THe Decision is seen by many non-Asians as bitchmade, MJ's gambling problems are a personal matter.

LeBron is kind of a egotistical shit ...But on the court and even when interviewed he is intelligent relatively well spoken and is absolutely one of the best team players in NBA history only Magic and Russel and maybe Timmy can be argued as a better teammate that was also a truly great player.

I already was a closet LeBron fan and the cramp episode and target whining was disturbing but when he is balling he is part Magic part MJ a true GOAT candidate. He just does some things that I hate but in the court guy is soo great.

Kang's ego is also overblown.... he made some PR mistakes in the past, but at least he's being himself instead of adopting a fake-ass public persona like DK, Kirby, or Durbeta....

The Lebron App is a nice touch, too, tbh..it allows fans/kids to relate to him and feel like they know him personally..it's pretty awesome..

Also, he went to the movies alone in San Antonio on Saturday night and politely interacted with fans that asked for autographs, etc..if that was Jordan, he would have literally pissed on any fan that was anywhere near him, tbh, unless they were a rich White man..

Chose n one tattoo speaking in third person I could go on, but I would be a hypocrite to hate him for those foibles when Kobe and MJ are even more egotistical and more selfish on the court. Yes I wish LeBron had more killer in him like mj or Kobe heck even like Magic or Isiah but if he did the NBA would be boring. It's like Shaq's laziness other teams are lucky LeBron was not the ass MJ was or he would already be GOAT tbh

A Kirbystan is really going to question someone else's injuries and accuse them of whining? Nobody has faked more injuries or whined harder to the media than Kirby :lol

I have to agree with the posters above. If Lebron stayed in Cleve and played jogo bonito there then he'd be the most loved baller in history.

unfortunately he quit and joined the Heat, THE TEAM WITH NBA's worst fanbase tbh. And he also joined 2 superstars. that turned off the public for good. imo

if anyone is to blame, it's him imo

He'll need to win 7 or 8 rings as "the guy" before diehard Jordan fans even entertain the notion of Lebron as the GOAT. Unfair, I know, but that's the truth. If Lebron ever hits 6 Jordan fanboys will start making excuses as to why Lebron's 6 =/= Jordan's 6.

If LeBron stayed in Cleveland, he'd have retired with zero rings and be mocked as a choker and Karl Malone 2.0 for the rest of his life :lol

The "he joined 2 superstars" argument is tired for a variety of reasons, most notably how useless those two "superstars" are without LeBron on the court to bail their asses out, as well as how other stars were lucky enough to be handed superteams by their own teams' front offices instead of being forced to make it happen themselves....

Hard to argue that he chose the shortcut when the "superstars" he was supposedly joining up with have turned out to be massive scrubs without LeBron on the court and he still has to do literally everything for his team....

I think that's mostly true this year. Lebron goes god mode in game 2 and shoots damn near 70% from the field scoring 35 and the Heat barely win by 2 points, and I think at least 25% of his field goal attempts were well contested jumpers.

Wade is a top 3 SG in NBA history, but he was just a glorified role player last year(only averaged 15 PPG in the playoffs and had a net negative on/off), and although he bounced back as an All-Star caliber player this year, he obviously isn't the Wade of 2011 and earlier(although he has sucked in the Finals, so far)..he's essentially the same as current Ginobili, tbh..

I'm not talking about legacies, I'm talking about on-court production right now, tbh.... in the series thus far, Miami is +6.4 with LeBron on the court and -37.7 with LeBron off the court, despite the presence of those two "superstars" :lol
