Has anyone seen the movie Guess Who? It just came out on DVD with Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac.

I'm thinking about renting it this week.

What year was the original made?

1967,"Guess Whos Coming to Dinner" was the original, starring Katharine Hepburn.
A little reversal.

The daughter of a well-to-do white family comes home from a vacation to announce her intentions of marrying a well-to-do black physician. The prospective in-laws must come to terms with the implications (from yahoo movies).

When I was one year old (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061735/) :lol

Ahh...butta beat me to it.

Maybe I should rent both to compare? :)

Sidney Poitier rocks!

There won't be any comparison. They should have left it alone.

I haven't seen it, but I don't like Ashton so wouldn't bother to rent it.

The original is really good, though.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is one of the 100 Greatest Movies ever made. It has a remarkable cast, just with Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn, and Sidney Poitier. The film is a legendary, insightful look at the subtle tensions of race relations.

Guess Who is schlock.

We saw it and it was pretty funny. I thought it might be a bit hokey at first, but it had some real funny scenes (white guy trying to tell black jokes and sleeping in basement scene).

Why take a serious movie and ruin it by making it a comedy?

The original is one of my favorites.

for those of you bitchin about how this is a remake and therefore must suck.. who cares? the original was made 1700 years ago.. just think of it as being a new movie really. It's completey different anyway. Why compare it?

and btw to the person who started the thread.. I have seen it, and I really liked it. Rent it. :)

Give me the classics anyday.

But you are correct, this is a totally different movie and it should be said it sucks on it's own, not by comparison. :spin
