Thing with Mills is he moves the ball or he quick releases a shot. That passing group out there with him, Splitter, Diaw, Ginobili, and Leonard freaking destroyed Miami! Somewhere Green mixed in well too.

He brings the ball up, but after that, 99% of the time, Manu runs the offense and Patty moves around and shoots a lot. He's Billups, from 1997-2003, before he really learned from LB how to play the point.

He wanted to win tonight from the moment he stepped on the court. You could see it. He fought screens, hands all over the place, and refused to let that ball go.

Malik Hairston
06-10-2014, 11:28 PM
He's such a different player than Tony, great change of pace when Pop goes to the bench, it forces the opposing team to guard Mills completely different than the way they had been guarding Parker..

His energy is such a difference-maker, too, especially when the starters are playing sluggish and uninspired ball..

UZER
06-10-2014, 11:28 PM
Mills really impressed me when he had that great game at home in the regular season against the thunder when he was playing with fire and was getting in fishers head with his pesky defense. Watching that game I was thinking, this guy is ready to bring it in the PO this year!

What I love most about Patty being on the floor more than his offence and hustle is how he gets the ball moving. Against Miami that's so huge since their pick and roll defence slows down the Spurs offence and ball movement so much. Patty and the bench unit pass the ball so beautifully for those open shots.

When Diaw or Bellinelli find themselves at the top of the key they tend to throw poor passes blocked or intercepted - Pop knows he has to pull them off and sub Mills who is a reliable point guard with a strong pass and a keen defence. All players contributed tonight but especially Kahwi's defence of James.

he is a very different player stlyle to tony parker. tony parker is slow calm and composed, less passing with starters, but when bench come with patty the whole pace change, its more uptempo, faster and killer 3s! i think that dynamic fks other teams up tbh1!!!!!

When Tony ran out of ideas started to lose the ball/dumb shots in the paint so Pop took him out, the result was a different rhythm between Patty and Manu our Spurs sustained the lead, so even without scoring much Patty was very valuable tonight.

Patty's bbal iq is higher than TPs.

He isn't selfish,

moves the ball better than TP,

but ain't scared to let the 3 fly,

he ball hawks on D,

flys around screens like a madman,

a better shooter,

At this point he looks even better than Parker, his foot speed alone allows him to close out on shooters much better and penetrate the defense, just can't play him and Belli together. He was great yesterday, TP almost fucked us.
