Last year we won 15 games, got excited and fell short.

This year, we have won 14 games, let's not get ahead of ourselves again.

In case you don't know, it takes 16 wins to win championship.

After the 16th win, then we can all vote on MVP.:lobt2:

Right now, I will say, Moris Niaw, but Dim Tuncan has to be taken into consideration. Pony Quarter is still a possibility, though. I think also to Quowi Meonard and Fanny Queen. Baty Nils, Gino Belly and Diago Blitser are in my short list. Also this Craig Bobovich dude on the bench deserves some attention. Stay foccur, if steals the fanalz, ESBN won't misspell LeBranone.

Thus far there are 5 legitimate contenders for MVP for the Spurs, and 3 for the Heat.

Spurs: Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Boris Diaw
Heat: LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Rashard Lewis

Really it depends on who steps up and leads the team over the next few games, assuming the Spurs win two more. Game 3 could be Kawhi's anomaly and he could disappear and Manu could step up, or it could end up being Duncan. I'd like to see Duncan get another, or Manu get one since he somehow didn't in 2005, but there's no clear cut winner at this point. Even for Miami, Lebron is the winner pretty much just because he's Lebron.

They're neutered from the losses the last few years and too scared to even rub in wins to the trolls who make dozens of threads after every Spurs loss. Continue your discussion dude, some people still like to talk basketball without living in fear.

As for the topic, Duncan is the leading Spurs candidate now, but if by some chance Leonard repeats his game 3 performance twice while holding down LeBron (leading to two wins), he will definitely take home that award. Being a long time Spurs fan, I want to see Duncan get it for his legacy, but I won't be the least bit bitter if Kawhi gets it if it leads to #5.

If we win on Sunday and he plays at least solid it has to be Leonard. His play the last two games has been the biggest difference on both ends the floor so as long as he plays well in game five it belongs to him

Kidd K
06-12-2014, 11:15 PM
Does it always go to leading scorer?

Historically, it ALWAYS has.

Right now its:

Parker: 74 (also has 1 rebound, 21 assists, 51% FG%. also has 4 steals.

Kawhi: 67 (also has 22 boards, 8 assists, 59% FG%, also 7 steals and 5 blocks)

Duncan: 63 (also has 41 boards, 8 assists, 66% FG%, also 2 steals and 2 blocks)

Diaw: 26 (also has 34 boards, 23 assists, 3 steals and a block)

But imo Kawhi and Duncan are leading, then Parker. But Diaw has been GREAT so I added his stats too.

Btw interesting stat: In games 1, 2, and 4, Parker is exactly 8/15 from the field. Incredible consistency.

I would say whoever does better in game 5; Kawhi or Duncan, will take it home.

Leonard is going up against Lebron every night on offense and defense, TD's defense at the rim combined with Leonard's has been vital to slowing him down.

Everyone else has no excuse not to dominate, they have easy easy easy assignments (aside of maybe Green), Chalmers has been horrific these playoffs as well as Cole, just look at how great Mills looks out there against them. Allen is nothing more than a role player as well.

TP hasn't been that great either, the Spurs have had to make some TOUGH shots with him out on the court these past few games.

We could theoretically lose Tony and Timmy and still fare well.. if we lost boris's huge mismatch or Kawhiis defensve and offensive pressure, we'd be lost. See how quick the heat go on a run everytime Kawhii sat, especially to start the 4th? You gotta account for his blks/steals per game. I hope they do Kawhii justice.

It has to be Kawhi and it's not even close, the game slowed down for him during Game 3 and it continued tonight. He's dialed in being aggressive when he needs to be and being active on defense, going after rebounds and being a great teammate.
Yup. Hardest job in the series (or any series) and massively contributing on offense as well. No contest.

It's got nothing to do with narratives or anything else. The most valuable player for the Spurs this series is Leonard. Their second best LBJ defender got emasculated in G2 3Q. Without Kawhi and leg cramps this might have been a Heat sweep.
And for the tards that think Green can guard Lebron, that is such a ridiculous mismatch that the few times it's accidentally happened the Heat have gone right to LBJ and Green had to intentionally foul him.

Also:
The reporters that vote on it often overlook defense. This will be different, because of their infatuation with LBJ. To many of them, if there is a mortal who can do a respectable job defending THE Lebron James, he must be the MVP.

I was wondering the same thing.

The Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award (formerly known as the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award) is an annual National Basketball Association (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Basketball_Association) (NBA) award given since the1969 NBA Finals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969_NBA_Finals). The award is decided by a panel of nine media members, who cast vote after the conclusion of the final round (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Finals). The person with the highest votes wins the award. In at least one NBA Finals, fans balloting on NBA.com accounted for the tenth vote.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Russell_NBA_Finals_Most_Valuable_Player_Award #cite_note-1)[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Russell_NBA_Finals_Most_Valuable_Player_Award #cite_note-2) Originally, the award was a black trophy with a gold basketball-shaped sphere at the top, similar to the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_O%27Brien_Championship_Trophy), until a smaller trophy was introduced in 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_NBA_Finals).[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Russell_NBA_Finals_Most_Valuable_Player_Award #cite_note-3)[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Russell_NBA_Finals_Most_Valuable_Player_Award #cite_note-4)

Guess my question is which 9 members of the media?
