Saw someone posted this but asking for a source but he's a legit one when delivering news from Spurs.

Chip Engelland is under contract with the Spurs, so the Warriors can't add him to their team without permission from Spurs. Shooting coach will remain with us.

Can anyone confirm? Hopes it's true!

Mark Stein also tweeted that Chip was unlikely to be pried from Spurs

Alvin Gentry just took the #1 AC spot in GS.

Do the GSW players like Thompson and Curry need a shooting coach?

They would have to pay top dollar for something their top guys don't need.

I think they can refuse to release him for interviews even, unless a team offers a clear upgrade, like lead assistant or HC.

To expand on cjw's post:

@ESPNSteinLine (https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine)Warriors got Alvin Gentry away from Clips but word is they know they have little to no hope to lure shot doc Chip Engelland away from Spurs

@ESPNSteinLine (https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine)Sense is that Engelland is just too big a part of the Spurs' culture -- and too close to Pop -- for anyone to lure him away at the minute

Why hire a shooting coach for a team that can already shoot? Just hire a defensive mind. Plus Steve Kerr should already be able to teach guys how to shoot if they can't.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. Gentry was a beast defensive mind when he was coaching the Suns. He just got a raw deal in Phoenix but he deserved another chance.
