@BenGolliver: Referee Joey Crawford spotted in Miami before Game 4
2-2 tbh.
NBA wants a game 7, they're making sure it happens no matter what.... My guess is Ed Malloy and maybe Tom Washington will be in his crew

Wasn't Malloy an alternate for last night's game?

No, Bill Kennedy was the alternate yesterday. They're both trash IMO

Joey Crawford seems to benefit the road teams more often than not IMO...don't have the actual numbers, but that's what it seems like.

It may have just been a recently polished fire hydrant, so there is hope.

I was actually hoping for him in game 4. He wont be intimidated by the home crowd and, generally speaking (other than Laughgate) he is one of the best refs in the game.

Couldn't agree more.

Okay, thanks.

Didn't Joey Crawford ref Game 6 against OKC in 2012? And Game 6 against the Heat last year?

Joey Crawford always fucks the Spurs. Not sure why people are happy that we're getting him in such an important game tbh.

Crawford was also standing right next to Brent Barry when Barry was practically tackled by a Laker while trying to shoot a 3 to tie a playoff elimination game. No call. Even the commentators were saying it was a clear foul.

I don't know why you guys complain. Joey has fucked Spurs before, but lately he has been pretty good, and nevertheless, it's better to have him on the road than at home. Don't act like you expected Joey won't ref any game of the finals.

Then you'll really hate this:
Ref assignments for tonight's game.
Joey Crawford, Mike Callahan, Tom Washington, and alternate John Goble.

I started liking Joey after that Durrant freethrow sequence tbh :lol

^^that happened twice last game. Once to each team. It wasn't that big of a deal, just the media upset that okc lost that game and tried to not blame it on Durant as usual.

It was actually Joey doing the right thing (though probably in the wrong way). The scorer had failed to indicate on the scoreboard that both teams were in the bonus, despite another official asking twice to have that fixed. Joey wanted it fixed before the free throws were taken; arguably, he's right about that because one team or the other might want to foul after the free throw attempt was taken and should know officially whether the other team was in the bonus at that point. It's obviously not critical to game management, but it should be important to have accurate information on the scoreboard and if Durant missed the second (which he ultimately did), there wouldn't be time to correct if a play got started after the miss.
If Joey had held the ball for another couple of beats before giving it to Durant and, while still holding the ball, had walked over to the scorer to demand a change, nobody would think he was crazy.

Posted elsewhere, but thought I'd put it here too:
Joey, Callahan, and Washington are about as experienced a Finals crew as the league could reasonably put together for a game this early in the series. Joey will work his 49th Finals game tonight (for sake of comparison, the other 11 Finals officials this year have worked a cumulative total of 96 Finals games over the courses of their careers; if you take Danny Crawford out of that, the other 10 Finals officials have cumulatively worked 66 Finals games (or only 17 more than Joey has by himself)). Callahan has called at least one game in all but one Finals since 2003 and 15 Finals games total. Washington is working his 4th Finals since 2008 and is working the 4th Finals game of his career tonight.
Joey Crawford
Miami is 10-6 in the Big 3 era with Joey; they are 8-2 at home over that span; they are 3-2 in the Finals. The Heat are 2-0 in the 2014 Playoffs with Joey (won Game 5 vs. Brooklyn; won Game 2 at Indiana).
Spurs are 23-16 since 1990 with Joey; 8-12 on the road; 5-3 in the Finals. The Spurs are 2-1 in the 2014 Playoffs with Joey (won Game 1 vs. Dallas; won Game 2 vs. Portland; lost Game 4 at OKC).
Callahan
Miami is 14-2 in the Big 3 era with Callahan; they are 9-0 at home over that span; they are 4-1 in the Finals. The Heat are 3-0 in the 2014 Playoffs with Callahan (won Game 1 vs. Brooklyn; won Game 2 at Indiana; won Game 6 vs. Indiana).
Spurs are 17-12 all-time with Callahan; 4-7 on the road; 3-3 in the Finals. The Spurs are 1-1 in the 2014 Playoffs with Callahan (won Game 5 vs. Dallas; lost Game 4 at OKC).
Washington
Miami is 5-4 in the Big 3 era with Washington; they are 2-2 at home over that span; they are 1-0 in the Finals. The Heat are 1-1 in the 2014 Playoffs with Washington (won Game 4 at Charlotte; lost Game 5 at Indiana).
Spurs are 11-9 all-time with Washington; 2-8 on the road. He's never called a Spurs Finals game. The Spurs are 1-2 in the 2014 Playoffs with Washington (lost Game 3 at Dallas; won Game 1 vs. Portland; lost Game 3 at OKC).

Yeah he was great especially last year in game 6 when he missed Ray Allen's travel before he took the 3 or not calling Danny Green getting fouled by Bosh behind the 3 point line in the final seconds of the game.

I'd always much rather have Joey on the road, mostly because if he decides to do you in, you're likely losing a game that you weren't likely to win anyway.
With that said, I think having Joey in Game 4 almost certainly puts him in Game 7, too. Since the league went to crews of 3, there has been a Game 7 of the Finals in 1994, 2005, 2010, and 2013 and in every single instance, the Game 4 crew chief was also an official in Game 7 (2013, Scott Foster; 2010, Scott Foster; 2005, Dick Bavetta; 1994, either Hugh Evans or Joey Crawford (who both worked Game 4 and Game 7)).
Who knows about Game 5 and Game 6, but my hunch for now is that Game 7 is Foster, McCutchen, and Joey (that follows the pattern used last year, where the Game 7 crew was the chiefs from Game 1 (this year, Foster), Game 3 (this year, McCutchen), and Game 4 (this year, Joey)).
My best guess would be that Game 5 is Foster, Mauer, and Davis or Capers (the Game 1 crew or the Game 1 crew with Capers substituted for Davis) and that Game 6 will be Danny Crawford, Brothers, and Callahan (a combination of the Game 2 chief and the two most experienced officials from Games 2-4).

I'm a little tired of hearing how Joey Crawford is out to get the Spurs seven years after the suspension took place.
I'm sure most of you are still upset over the non-call in '08 when Fisher fouled Brent. I'm not. He wasn't the reason why the Spurs managed to blow games 1 and 5 in LA despite having 20 point leads in each of those games.
He's been fine since.
