He's the best coach in the nba bar none... It took Pop two years to figure out he had to start Boris Diaw instead of giving him DNPs to beat the Heat... Jim Carrey got it right on his first try and then came back and almost took out the Spurs with inferior talent...

'Eh. The Spurs were coasting going into the playoffs. It took them a few games to get back into the swing of what they were already doing before they started coasting after they locked up the top seed.

Think abou it. . .19 straight wins, average win margin: 17 points.

They begin to coast and rest key guys a lot since they locked up top seed. Due to rust, they struggle with Dallas for a handful of games.

Once the rust is off, they go 12-4 in the playoffs with average win margin of 15+.

Dallas fluked a few wins over a rusty, coasting Spurs team. Had Carter not hit that fluke three, it may have just been over in 5 anyway. No big deal.

Carlisle is a good coach though. Probably top 5. Have to give him credit since he did win a title.

:lmao Had Boris not hit that huge 3 at the end of game 4 when we were down 1-2 we'd be fishing... Carlisle is the best bar none... His defensive scheme was on point, Pop was completely lost...

k then, I'll trade you Carter's three for Diaw's three (which was far more realistic anyway)

Spurs still win.

All Pop had to do that series was have Leonard attack Ellis at will (instead we had hero ball), and go with the obvious defensive assignments of Green on Ellis and KY on Carter, it was that simple. Pop was just stubborn, and to think this season could've easily ended in the first round!

Agree about both coasting and Carlisle.

If Timmy and Tony hit their free throws in Game 2 we'd have just swept LeBron for the second time. GOAT my ass....

Yeah he isn't no dam GOAT. He is at best just barely cracking #10 if you put him over two of Hakeem, Kobe, Irving.

I love it. Pop's been quick to make the adjustments this year. In the past he was too stubborn and would just say we needed to play better. The thing is adjustments force the other team to adjust and allow you to take advantage till they figure it out which might not happen.

He's a legend without a doubt. Hard to believe the Spurs biggest challenge came in the first round. Then again, Dallas was never really an 8th seed. Just a poor first half of the season.

On the good side I think fighting that hard that early on helped the Spurs develop more toughness. The OKC series and game 6 of that series also. I didn't expect the Spurs to take both road games. Meanwhile, the Heat have taken the easy path and we see where it's gotten them.

Id say Carlisle is the second best coach now that Sloan is gone. Thibs is damn good too.
