View Full Version : Does 2-2-1-1-1 actually hurt us in this context?

Game 5: Heat get two days rest

Game 6: One day rest, but Heat at home

Game 7: Heat get two days rest

The Heat have looked pretty lifeless (outside of LBJ) in the second halves of every game but G2. I would honestly rather play the next one in MIA seeing how little their crowd actually matters. If the Heat win G5 in SA they get a home game to force G7. Obviously 2-2-1-1-1 favors the home team more in a vacuum, but having won games 3 & 4 on the road it seems to me to be an unexpected disadvantage.

If you are up 3-1 in a series would you rather play Away, Home, Home, or Home, Away, Home?

The Spurs have won 3 out of 4 by a combined 55 points. I'd rather have Game 5 at home because the Spurs are going to clinch the title on Sunday.

No way. If game 5 was at Miami Id say its basically a given they pull one out of 3 out. Especially facing elimination. You cant ask for a better situation than 2 demoralizing wins followed by a home game for the trophy.

I mean if they are 100% going to win I'd rather they do it in SA, but if somehow, some way, they lose G5, the Heat have a home game to force a VERY scary game 7 in SA.

A game in an arena where the Spurs have now won by 40 total points. I understand what you're driving at, but all of this assumes that a) the Spurs are going to lose Game 5 and therefore the location of Game 6 is more important, and b) that the Heat - which have been completely outclassed 3 times out of 4 (and their one victory was hardly reassuring) are going to become the first team in 31 tries to overcome a 3-1 series deficit without home court advantage and against a vastly superior team.

doesn't matter. either way, as the higher seed with a 3-1 lead, we have 2 home games to close them out

Even if this was a 2-3-2 there would be a 2 day break between Game 4 and Game 5. The only difference is that the teams have to travel and I think almost anyone would prefer to have that Game 5 at home.

This is true and beating the Heat 3 in a row is just as tough as it will be for them to beat us 3 in a row. But there is a lot of momentum heading into 5 at home and that would scare them too. Game 6 in Miami no sure thing for them either with what happened last two.

It doesn't help nor hurt either team more than the other. 2-2-1-1-1 is how it's supposed to be played, every other series is held this way.

Would be interesting to see, if "Heat Fans" would even show up for a Game 5 at Miami.

The game being on Saturday would've been nice but I expect the Spurs to close it out on Sunday. No fucking around.

Having game 5 in SA is crucial. It's one of the biggest games in the whole series.

The good thing about 2-3-2 is Heat would not win 2 in a row at San Antonio.

Even though I predicted the Spurs in 5, I find it hard to believe that they can be beat the Heat 3 times in a row.

Looking at things objectively that's pretty much the case.
