Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was 38 years, 1 month, 25 days when he won his last Finals MVP award.

Tim will be:
- 38 years, 1 month, 22 days on sunday.
- 38 years, 1 month, 24 days on tuesday.
- 38 years, 1 month, 26 days on thursday.

I'm not hoping we go to game 7 though :)

I'm struck by these numbers though, didn't realize they were so close in age... do you think Tim will get the MVP this year?

Kareem probably deserved the 1980 Finals MVP more than Magic but the voters got caught up in Magic's big game 6 performance. Kareem missed the game with an injury.

I think it's between Tim and Kawhi right now and it wouldn't surprise me if they gave it to Tim. Obviously what happens in Game 5 (hopefully it doesn't go past that) will play a big factor in who gets it.

Remember 2007, it was between Tim and Tony, and they chose to reward the younger guy, maybe also because they thought Tim had had his share already. I think it would be the same this year.
Last year, the World discovered Kawhi, this year people start to realize he could become a superstar. It would also be good for him to receive it, to help him realize guys like Paul George have nothing on him.

The media is also starting to like him... I think they haven't realized yet that in terms of media friendliness he's worse than Pop + Tim combined x1000.

In my mind, Boris could deserve it too as he's been crucial to everything we've been trying to do these finals (and for most of the playoffs too). But he will never get it cuz he's a 32 years old French fattie and in the media's eye he's just a glorified role player. When we all here know he's a lot more than that right now for the Spurs. What he does just doesn't translate well into stats.

But anyway, Kawhi being the second youngest player ever to get Finals MVP would completely change his status in the league. That would be awesome for him and for the Spurs. I don't think Tim cares about getting a Finals MVP at this point in his career, and I'm sure he'd be happy for Kawhi too.

tbh, based on performances so far this series, Tim gets the nod over Kawhi.

Kawhi will probably turn down the FMVP because he doesn't want to have to give the speech.

This team has no MVP that's why it's the most fun team I've ever watched.
Just wish SJax was still on the roster..

my biggest fear is that parker comes out gunning in game 5 trying to win finals mvp and the heat take advantage of it. he started gunning a big in game 4 when he came off the bench and at one point put up a 25 foot 3 pointer with 6 seconds left on the shot clock. just play within the team and win the damn title.

There is no way a Spur is going to be playing selfishly in order to garnish more favor for the MVP.

It doesn't help Manu's status as much as Timmys'. On one hand, Maun is gonna be in HOF anyways;; OTOH he would not be in any conversations of top 10 or top 20. He will be remembered as a unique player who achieves successess in both Europe and NBA, both pro and international basketball.

However, another Finals MVP would help push Timmy to the discussion of all-time top 5. Plus, 2+4 MVPs would trump KB's 1+2 and cement his status as the best players in post-MJ era (LeBron is much younger and not deemed as in the same generation).

I would love for Manu to get the recognition, but honestly I don't think he's really in the discussion for his contribution to this year's Finals.

Manu isn't winning it no matter what happens. Just be grateful he isn't sinking us like last year...

Which Finals MVP had the highest percentage of body fat? Gunning for Bobo to pull out 25-10-12, become most unfit Finals MVP of all time.

It's between Manu & Kawhi IMO. If the Spurs win tonight, whomever has the more impactful game will win. Tim & Boris also have a shot with a win and signature performance.

How can you have be a Spurs fan and have nothing but respect for Manu F'n Ginobili? We're so lucky to have a player like him through the years....

Manu definitely has a shot if the Spurs win today and he plays well. He's the +/- leader and it's been a dramatic reversal from last year's series in contrast...
