Heat are confident because they have a new game plan. 1 on 1 defence, switch everything. Make this game about talent vs. talent not talent vs. system.
Limit the Spurs to 3 passes per possession. Give Manu, Tony, Kawhi room to shoot. Let Duncan, Diaw, and Splitter post 1 on 1. Let's see if the Spurs can score 100 points that way.

When did he ever say this?
Looks like bulletin board material to me.
Popping off like that is going to get them in serious trouble IMHO.

If they play 1 on 1 defense, TP and Manu are gonna rip them to shreds.

Link? Okay, I read it.
But I still have a real hard time believing Bosh actually said this, even though he did. What an idiot.
If they do this, the passing game will have a field day, and the #4 ranked Spurs defense will tear them a new asshole!

I've been worried every single game so far, but this actually lessens my worry a little bit tbh.
That is brazen, and something that fuels the opposing team for sure!
Thank you Bosh, for the extra incentive.
What an idiot.

No, of course not, but you definitely don't say something like this either, you do not make guarantees unless you are a complete fool.
This will fuel the Spurs. He should have kept his mouth shut and just showed by actions.
What an idiot.

Didn't the Spurs purposefully force 1-on-1 matchups last year in Game 5 vs. the Heat?

Bosh is the most emotional guy on the Heat's team. Remember 2011? He didn't mention game plan. He's talking about energy most likely. Where the hell was this confidence in game 3 and 4?

The article picture is great, Diaw using his ample derriere and long arms to hold LeBron's two armed reach-in attempt a good foot from the ball.

No mention of game plan. OP just thinks he knows basketball, let alone how to dismantle this Spurs offense.

It's one thing to change the game plan, but the health, talent(personnel) and defense of the spurs just looks to be too much.
xmas1997
06-15-2014, 02:51 PM
Well, of course they were going to change something, they had to, what they have been doing wasn't working.
But to actually tell the world out loud he was guaranteeing a win?
That is beyond stupid.
If the Spurs were in danger of having a let down tonight, Bosh just gave them a major motivation not to, and in sports, that is something you try not to do, and especially not to a team that has dominated you so far.
That is sheer stupidity.
I bet he already wishes he could take back his words.

Agreed. The Spurs don't have any jerks on their team like bosh. They just play the game.
Chris likes to hear himself talk sometimes and he often does not have to do the heavy lifting when it matters. He makes a good play late sometimes but James creates everything for him.
The Spurs will know about this comment.
It would not surprise me if Leonard tries to throw one down on Bosh in order to make a point (without chirping about it).

Bosh only makes plays when James has the defense's attention.
xmas1997
06-15-2014, 03:00 PM
This actually shows a complete lack of respect for what the other team has done to you so far.
You don't hear the Spurs making bulletin board motivation for the Heat.
They aren't stupid.
No, you give the other team props for what they have done and go out on the court and THEN lay down the hammer!
I thought Bosh was an intelligent dude, but now I can only figure he is dumber than a sack of rocks!
While Bosh did say they would win, he refused to offer a guarantee. James, on the other hand, sounded like he's found peace with the fact that not every season is going to end in a ring. He said he'd rather miss the playoffs than make the playoffs and not ring. I don't know how true that is or how his handlers feel about that, but that almost sounds like a Cleveland Cavaliers shout out.

If the Spurs ring tonight, that's all the point they need to make. Just hope it doesn't go back to Miami.

Granted, he refused to say it was a guarantee, but the way it comes off in print sure as hell looks like a guarantee. And why else would they ask him if he was guan teeing it otherwise?
Do you disagree?

No one cares. Why do people think a player saying he will win is somehow an insult to the other team? If you need motivation at this stage of the game, you're probably not living.

At this point, it's the last resort the Heat have as far as defense goes but they have to understand they have very few good defenders. Either, should be a good game. Let's do this for Rick Carlisle's group

No doubt he wishes he could take it back now, and just remained silent and let his play speak for itself.
Or he could just be trying a new strategy to try and psych the Spurs out as well as psych his team into a false sense of security.
We shall see what we shall see.

New game plan?? This is the 12th finals game they have played against us plus last 2 years of reg season.. I don't think there are too many more tweaks to be made here.

Obviously Bosh would have had to said something somewhat encouraging about this. No team in NBA history has come back from this deficit. Nothing wrong with what he said, he didn't say it in an completely asinine, arrogant way.

I think you are grossly overestimating the true talent of the Spurs team. Pop's system turned pumpkins into carriages and tired out Heat stars desperately trying to keep up with it, our true man-to-man power is still weaker than Heat's.
They are capable of breaking Pop's illusion if they stop trying to beat us system vs system, and make the game as slow and ugly as possible. We need to finish them tonight before Erik Spoelstra (like Scott Brooks, a tape watcher and very slow in making adjustments) and Pat Riley figure out a real solution.

Where is the Heat talent coming off the bench??? Their talent is all about Lebron, a diminished Wade and an inconsistent Bosh.. Beyond that we have Mills, and Manu and Diaw and Splitter and Kahwi and TD and Tony.. We are deeper and more talented top to bottom..

BTW As long as the Spurs are not dribbling playing 1 on 1 we will score easily this has been proven in the series. They can switch whatever the hell they want as long as it's 4 and 5 passes before a shot we are fine..
