View Full Version : Amateur: Jim Wins MVP Tonight... Book It!!!

You see... beneath the surface of all the hype of team play and great coaching you have some underlying factors at play here. What people don't realize is there has been a concentrated effort from the nerdish sports writers to elevate Jim's legacy. This is why there was a media black out of Jim's epic failure in the Olympics. This is why no one wants to point out that he's been a role player since 2006... damn there half his career. This is why no one in the media bothered to touch his divorce and cucking issues. This is also why no one blamed him for the biggest choke job in the history of sports in the 2013 finals. What you guys are not seeing is the bias that's in favor for Jim. Look at all of these nerds that work for ESPN... Simmons, Skip, Broussard, Smith, Wilbon, and a host of other nerds that either never played, or sucked at playing. Jim himself, being an ultimate nerd has benefitted from those of his ilk to boost his legacy, while Kobe has had to fight through this wave of nerd media. If Kobe farts in Japan, he's blamed for the stock market falling... this is fact! Kobe's marriage was on the brink, and it made headlines for years. When Kobe bought that ring for his wife... the nerds turned it into a catch phrase for nerds facing trouble with their ol ladies... "The Kobe Special." This is why I know for a fact that Duncan will be praised for winning another title, even though he's the 4th option on his team.
Just to show you guys how bad the media is when you enter Kobe into the picture, I'm going to make a mockery out of the MVP voters, and render their ability to judge basketball once and for all. Larry Bird is quoted as saying that he should throw all of his NBA MVP's away due to Kobe not even having one. Why? Because when you gauge how these players are playing throughout the season you'll be hard pressed to find a player that should have more MVP's than Kobe during his era. But, you have two... Tim Duncan and Steve Nash.
NBA Monthly/Weekly Awards
Steve Nash: Player of the week 8 times and player of the month 3 times.
Tim Duncan: Player of the week 22 times and player of the month 3 times.
Kobe Bryant: Player of the week 33 times and player of the month 17 times.
Now... as you can see, Kobe has won more player of the weeks than Duncan and Nash has combined, and damn there tripled the amount of player of the months Nash and Duncan has combined. To make matters worse is these nerds have set the standard of the MVP being the best player on the best team, and not what it should be, which is the best player playing the best ball. But... Lebron and Duncan won MVP's.. during years that Kobe won back2back and three-peat titles!!! What's even worse is Duncan won the league MVP during a year that not only did he not win a player of the month, but Kobe was on his third title in a row. How do you explain this??? I 2006-2007 Kobe won player of the month 3 times to Nash's 1, yet the nerds chose to give the NBA MVP award to Nash for a second straight year. In 2005-2006 Nash never even won a player of the month award but was given an league MVP award. They awarded Duncan a League MVP in 2002-2003, yet he never won an player of the month award? How is this possible? What are these nerds judging??? This is why I say the league MVP award is an absolute joke and a farce, and the voting rights should be taken out of the hands of a bunch of nerds that never could actually play the game and given to HOF players. The award would mean something then.
So... this is how I know Jim will win Finals MVP tonight no matter how shitty he plays. The nerds have their agenda and its working.

Of course he does. All great players are conscience of how their legacy is perceived. Take Jim for instance. It's no secret that he's a center, but forced the NBA to market him as a small forward. The NBA had him listed as a center for the all-star game, yet he forced them to change it to PF, hence, "Jim is the greatest PF of all time."

there is no logic to refute it....Kobe put in the work...won all those player of the month and week awards and the NBA voters kindly moved the goal posts on him...they knew what they did was personal because they disliked Kobe and fell in love with Shaq's personality...that's why in a sense I'm ok with Duncan winning tonight...because it was never about Duncan and Kobe..it's always been about Kobe vs. MJ and now it's Kobe vs. Lebron....that's why I'm so happy Lebron is about to become Duncan's son officially on Father's day...ESPN after game 2 went on this blitz about the mind of Lebron James and how brilliant he was....they've been quieter than a muthfacker since...it's shame..all the Lebron hype was only to discredit Kobe and now Duncan is about to shit all over their parade....

I don't expect sports logic to come from nerds. Duncan is a hype job to put nerds on the map... similar to gays coming out being such a bid deal. Peep this... they name the Finals MVP award after a guy that never even won the fucking award one time!!! Logic would tell you MJ should have his name on it. Logic would tell you Kobe would at least 5 MVP's. Take notice the media ploy after Kobe failed to three-peat... they knew the Lakers needed more help so they started this "No one wants to play with Kobe mantra." Weak niggas like Howard fell for that. Bitch niggas like Nelly yelled it from the rooftop. That was all to keep Kobe from catching Jordan. Lebron has been a total let down in the finals and even after teaming up with two top 10 players and going to the finals 4 straight years they are calling for him to play with Melo. It's a joke.

That exactly the reply I wanted. I know you think James is overrated and he's the most dominant regular season player of this generation.
Just so we're clear, you don't take Player of the Month awards seriously?
Too many factors can go into how a player wins the award. Maybe the best player in the league is on a great team and his team wins a lot of blowouts, meaning his minutes will be reduced and he can't pad his stats. Or maybe the coaches are managing their stars' minutes.
Take a hypothetical player that averages 26 and 13 on 55% every game. By year's end (if his team is good), he'll probably be the MVP, but he might not have any PoM awards because his stats don't fluctuate between big highs and lows, e.g, he doesn't average 35 one week and then 17 the next. He might not win any PoM because of how often players get hot for a month.

I'm only responding to the criteria that you guys and the media set to reduce Kobe's legacy. I don't expect fairness in life, but to cheat a man should not go unrecognized. This is why I respect Bird's opinion on the matter. The criteria for league MVP is to give it to the best player on the best team. Yet, Lebron and Duncan won back2back MVP's during years that Kobe won back2back titles. Based upon the evidence I've presented, there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how they give award, which leaves one to question the bias tradition the media has set against Kobe.

I've never taken it serious... which is why I throw all-star mvp's out there. But when I do... you guys claim they hold no weight... and they don't, but neither does a regular season MVP. I judge legacies and a players skill level when I evaluate them. You guys use shooting percentage to claim Lebron is better than Kobe. Right? Malone and Barkley shot better from the field than Duncan. Both averaged more points, and Barkley was a better rebounder. When I say Barkley and Malone are better players you guys think its absurd. Why, because you're going off the eye test and the intangibles that don't show up in stats. When I use the same method with Kobe, you guys simple run to shooting percentage.

Well, Malone did shoot worse in the playoffs than Duncan. Barkley is a better offensive player than Tim, but he was atrocious defensively. So raw stats don't tell the whole story there.
Shooting percentages aren't all that matters. Most people think Lebron is better than Kobe because of his all around game. He's a better passer, rebounder, and more efficient scorer, with smarter shot selection.
That said, I don't think the media has put James higher than Kobe. They typically use the rings argument, and Lebron still has some catching up to do.

He's a better passer, that's it. He's a much bigger player and plays closer to the basket than Kobe so he should get more boards. Efficiency when judging players is not reliable and seems to be a category that the nerds have adopted make their case. Barkley was more efficient than Duncan with a much tougher degree of difficulty shot chart. So, Barkley was a better scorer, better rebounder, more efficient, and a better passer. Is he the better player?

No. Because he couldn't anchor the paint like Duncan, due to his height and general laziness on the defensive end. Barkley>Duncan offensively/Duncan>>>Barkley defensively, so Duncan is the overall better player. Barkley is underrated, though, and much better than Karl Malone.
Efficiency is pretty reliable. When Kobe won titles, it usually coincided with his most efficient playoff shooting performances and highest PER (a metric you don't like, I know). In a sport where games are frequently decided by 2, 3, 4 points, the difference between 10-26 and 13-26 is huge.
I'm curious, what's your argument for Kobe>James?

As a former player and a life long fan I go for the eye test every single time. I would never draft a team based on players efficiency. You'd wind up with Duke everytime. Stats don't tell you the heart of a player... the will of the player... his mental fortitude. Based on those attributes alone I'd take Kobe every time over Lebron. Take Lebron out of the East Coast... is he as efficient? Put him on a team with a true PG like Paul or Rajon... is he as efficient? You take Kobe's 6-24 in a game 7 in the finals. Most players with those kind of nerves will give up on their team. They'll cower and look for other teammates to bail them out. Not Kobe... he found other ways to dominate the game. His defense, his boards, and his heart to still take tough shots during the closing minutes. Lebron doesn't have that. Kobe never cheated you or took a short cut on the floor. For me... James is not a tier 1 player. He'll give you stats, but he's a front runner. It's in his nature.

You know mid. I understand you love the debate about all things analytical when it comes to the NBA. But you do realize you're dealing with two morons that compete with each other and rouges and iris to be the dumbest person in any room they may be in at the time.
The ONLY way they don't win is if any of those other Darwinian rejects happen to wander in.
You should slow your role... or at least know it.

I agree with half of that, considering I do use the eye test in conjunction with stats. 2005 was a good example. People believed Manu should've won the Finals MVP, based on his offense. But it was Duncan battling in trenches against the Wallaces, grabbing boards, blocking shots, and running the offense, which Manu played off of.
And for this series, Parker has had the best offensive stats, but Kawhi has been the overall best player considering his work on both ends. Parker can relax defensively since he has to either guard Chalmers or Cole, both non-threats. Kawhi is all over the fuckin' court.
But sometimes our perception is biased, which is why I go stats.
