I'm so happy for the players and the whole organization.
To me, this championship run is the most impressive thing I've witnessed so far in watching team sports. It was truly special, and truly inspiring as well. Thank you, San Antonio Spurs, for beauty and entertainment.
It hit me when the final horn rang.
Its all all becoming a reality now. This is some sweet shit.

Anyone seen TD 21? That dude was cliffjumping after each and every loss to any team.
I don't see how that could be possible considering the fact that I wasn't online for probably three quarters of them. I don't take back the vast majority of what I said because they were legitimate questions, but I'm thrilled that, for the most part, they proved me wrong.
As far as my lack of posting, its primarily due to being busy and secondarily due to flat out being speechless. I'm in awe of this team, more so for the way they did it than the fact that they did it.

Just prove we were right to blame him as being the main reason we didn't win the title last year, it was easy to see that last season he didn't come with the right attitude, fire, intense, will to win was lacking... Now I'm half forgive him for his part in redemption...

Worthy quote from Bill Simmons:
The best thing about a redemption title: That “unforgettably devastating” defeat becomes forgettable pretty fast. Boston fans stopped thinking about Boone’s homer a little before midnight on October 27, 2004. The Spurs and their fans stopped thinking about “28.2” on Sunday night. The Patriots and their fans stopped thinking about the Helmet Catch right as Gronkowski pulled in Brady’s Hail Mary in Super Bowl XLVI. It’s the best feeling you can have as a sports fan: winning the title AND dumping your baggage. Anyway, I have been in the house in 1984, 1985, 1986, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014 when an NBA team won a championship; Sunday night was the most emotional scene I can remember. You could feel that 12-month journey with every hug.

Been watching these all weekend, so awesome to relive each unique championship again. Just watched game 4 in '07 against Cleveland...damn, that team was horrible. :lol Donyell Marshall :lol And I had competely forgotten about that screaming banshee guy that would yell every time the Spurs were on offense. You can see that dude on the baseline throughout the 4th quarter :lol
Do you recall we were counting Lebron's dunks? He had one.
In this year's contest, he had one (I think, maybe two if you consider a small under the rim flush), and no alley oops. Meanwhile Leonard had a few dunks and an alley oop.
I've seen all 5 championships and this will be my favorite of all time. Last year now seems like a lifetime ago. This is my favorite team of all time. I can actually look forward to a possible repeat!!! Go spurs go!!!!! Let's do it this time.

As a Spurs fan back to the Gervin years, this title is especially meaningful, because I didn't think a team with a number of key guys in their 30s could realistically get through the four series and 16 wins anymore (that goes for last year too). They have played at such a high level the last 3 years.
The Spurs have been the best team in basketball the last two years given the fact that they (unlike the Heat) did the things necessary to be in position to win two championships and not just one. We all know they pissed away the title last year in a weird, flukey way - they went out and did something about it this year. This was my favorite Spurs team ever because of the depth, superior offensive firepower, and very good team defense. This incarnation of the Spurs is not just about Duncan, Parker, and Manu. The younger guys played great as well and really caused problems for Miami and the rest of the teams they defeated. Leonard, Green, Splitter, Mills all had great moments throughout the playoffs - be it on offense, defense or both. Boris Diaw was special in his unique way. Matt Bonner, Baynes, and Joseph also had specific, key positive moments as well.
It was a fantastic year, I will cherish it. Who knows what the future will bring, but this most recent title is a tribute to all the Spurs Organization. They did things the right way. They are the NBA Champs! How sweet it is!!!!!

Was at the 5th game. What an amazing experience after all these years of ups & downs since the '07 Finals. This Championship was so perfect, you can't write this shit. Yes, he was marginalized, for one reason or another. Never saw him in street clothes alongside Austin Daye.
From his wikipedia page, FWIW,
"On June 15, 2014, James won his first NBA championship after the Spurs defeated the Miami Heat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami_Heat) 4 games to 1 in the 2014 NBA Finals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_NBA_Finals)."

I constantly tell people this. It really does. Just seems to good to be true. Spurs gotta be loving life right now. They accomplished arguably the greatest championship victory of all time. Lebron apologists will find their excuses and make them up for him, but maybe hes just not as good as advertised. Just sayin..

I have thought since it happened that the whole thing is the stuff of movies...thing is, nobody could make this movie because the team would have to play themselves.
But it is an iconic sports story. One of the best of all time. The NBA out to market the heck out of it.
Feels good man.
Enjoying re-watching games from the run, it's a great feeling being able to watch the OKC series and laugh at the antics of the majority of there roster and also fast-forward the hour per game Westbrook spends at the FT line tbh

i know, there were times during the first round where i'd look at 16 like it was so far away.
as we got deeper in the playoffs, that was almost the first thing i'd watch for after a win. and you were prompt as fuck about it too, always crossed off the next win within a few hours of the final buzzers

I wasn't even really worried when LBJ came out guns blazing because I KNEW he would be up for it. I even commented in the game thread when a few posters were melting down where I said its only the 1st qtr. The only thing I was concerned about was 1)not falling behind by like 30, and 2) how the other Heat players would respond after LBJ cooled off. The only other Heat player to respond was Michael Beasley hence the outcome of the game and the final score. :lol

Tim Duncan has 5 championships.
Duncan has to be a top 5 player in NBA history. Titles 15 years apart and still the best player on the team. Kawhi might have had a better finals, but the entire playoffs was a Duncan show, night in and night out.
5 titles, 5x the best player in the playoffs.
Very few players in NBA history can claim that.

Yeah it is still pretty amazing after last years collapse, I thought that was what we would be left with as a last memory! Instead they won it all in epic fashion and blew up a team! Not only that we beat Dallas in a game 7, Portland who has been our problem for years in 5, OKC to avenge 012 and the Heat from last years game 6. Who could have asked for more?

Yep i think the only guys you can say for sure are above Duncan in terms of achievements, both team and individual, are Jordan and Kareem.
Although guys like Wilt, Russell, Magic, Bird have damn good arguments to be > Duncan.. Timmy stands up against any of them.
Jordan and Kareem are my 1-2. I have magic 3rd. Duncan 4th. There is no way you'd take 5 guys before Duncan in a fantasy nba history draft based on his longevity and dedication to the team. There are guys who put up better stats... Most of them were headcases. Duncan is a true leader and if history is wise will put him in the top 5 of all-time. If he gets #6 I would move him to 3rd on that list.

So, what's the new chant going to be now that "Drive for Five" is no longer apropos?
Winning the Championship still feels so damn good.

Damnit, everytime I browse through the thread I get the strong urge to watch another Spursgame of the Playoffs/Finals. Should I fight it?
I don't think so:

How unique was the 2014 spurs team? I mean no dominant superstar and theyve done the impossible, i had doubts throughout the POs that theyre just gonna fall short
it simply doesnt happen :tu 2014 nba champion - the san antonio spurs

i never checked in with this thread. i'll admit, i've been a spoiled fan. I forget how truly amazing the spurs are, from top to bottom. I might not agree with all of their moves, but i'm not an expert. and they clearly are. Go Spurs Go!!!
I'll never forget the dunk that Kawhi almost threw down. It was going to make the big put back look like child's play.

The best thing about that dunk attempt was it came on a broken play. Mills had almost turned the ball over passing the ball out to Kawhi at the top, and Lebron almost nabbed it. The steal attempt put him out of position though, and from that point, Leonard had only one thing in mind.
Too bad Anderson get him right on the upper arm or that dunk was going down.
