View Full Version : The worst moments for Spurs fans

Fisher's 0.4 shot, Manu's foul on Dirk in 2006, and the game 6 meltdown last year are probably (in reverse order) the biggest gut punches for Spurs fans in the Duncan era.

But for each one of those, the Spurs won the title the next year. Imagine being a (Sacramento) Kings fan and having it just fester for all time.

Exactly. The Spurs have some gut-wrenching losses, but that comes with the overall success. The Spurs were in contender position for so long, so of course the probability is also higher that you have to endure some tough losses ... most of the other NBA teams would take the overall success incl. the tough losses of the Spurs organization.

6 is gonna be sweet when 5 championship dvd comes out tbh. 100% sure that Allen's 3 will be on the intro.

You forgot #1 seed losing to #8 and the backdoor sweep. This title was really needed to erase three consecutive atrocious postseason exits.

It was all worth it. It was all worth the suffering for this one title... There is no guaranteeing that we would have had all it took to win it this year if we didn't endure the pain of 6 last year.

That being said... we can get it, next year.

TD said they would've repeated.

I know. I don't doubt it, but you could tell that this team was going for more than a title this year... it was justice, vengeance. It meant so much more than any other title apart from maybe the first one.

TD's knee injury in 2000

Hakeem 1 on 1 on one end of the court, Robinson 1 on 3 on the other, followed by a lifetime of talking heads declaring Hakeem is the greatest center to ever play the game and Robinson is soft and overrated.

2008, go up 20 against the Lakers in game 1, then lose and shit the bed the entire rest of the series. Blame 7 games vs NO and sitting on a plane after game 7. Sucks losing to the Lakers.

2010 Goran Dragic series was incredibly shitty and underrated as painful. Not above the classic 3 in the OP, but pretty fucking high. Humiliating.

Last night made 6 go from the most painful moment I'll ever see in sports, to just part of one of the best.

Yes not just in the finals. '06, '12, 6, all of them were avenged.

In the recent years:

Obviously Allen's shot and G7
Thunder run in game 6, Harden hit a big bullshit 3 in game 5 to end a Spurs run
Z-Bo hitting some stupid jumper or 3 or something that he has no business making
Dragic
Stupid plane incident

When I read that the Spurs gave RJ a fucking extension
When they resigned Bonner
When that guy on the Nuggets (I think) ran into Timmy's knee last season I was really worried

Think it was Webster who ran into Timmy's knee.

Beat Dallas in Game 7 at home by 23
Beat OKC in 6 games in OKC after losing in 6 games in OKC in '12
Beat Miami like a pinata in 5 games, after '13

funny how that worked out. It could have just as easily been Phoenix or Memphis in the first or Memphis in the 2nd round, or the Clippers (had it not been 5 on 8)

Also got Memphis back with a sweep and a 10-2 regular season mark since "11.

:lol It's great being a Spurs fan... Not only do we win, but we get REDEMPTION for every major loss.

So many opportunites. Leonard and missing go ahead 3's late in the 4th and Duncan missing a layup. It was brutal to watch.

Up 3-1

Lose to the Bullets, no NBA championship chance for the old ABA.
The Paultz phantom moving screen...

By far the worst.

I was at that game in Sacramento when Duncan injured his knee while dunking the ball. I was happy that they won that night, but when I heard what happened, I became crestfallen. I still remember Gilmore being unable to get that ball into the basket in the 1983 WCF. The Spurs could have beaten Philly that year.

That image would have forever haunted me if not for the redemption.
