Vick is fun to watch, and thats why he gets all the publicity, so I guess hes overrated. Eli Manning in my opinion is way overrated, but maybe thats because hes in New York. Kellen Winslow jr, Keyshawn Johnson.

I gotta agree with Dan here. Favre is one of the greatest QB's in the history of professional football.

Favre will pass Elway this season for 2nd most passing yards in NFL history. He's second to Dan Marino in most completions and TD passes.

He has 13 consecutive seasons (1992-2004) where he threw for over 3000 yards, including over 4000 last season. And his three consecutive MVP's in the mid to late 90's are a record too.

I don't really like the guy or his team too terribly much, but give credit where it's due.

Look at what Portis did in Denver and look at what he does now in Washington.

Also, Denver made Ruben Droughns (a FB) look like one of the top HBs in the game last year for a period of time. Don't get me wrong, the system is good for the team, but it makes the running backs look better than they are.

I would have to answer now that I believe its Ray Lewis, for all the noise thats made about him and all, he's just a good LB but not the second coming of Butkus or Singletary, even LT. They continually give us a dosage of Lewis over and over, and I don't even think he's the best defensive player on the Ravens, Ed Reed or Chris McAlister are better all around.

Plus T.O. showed him up in the end zone and he took it like a little bitch last year.
He should have laid out T.O. just like George Teague laid him out on the Dallas Star a few years ago.

Let's see. He has led GB to a couple super bowels, he is still one of the toughest players in the game compared to young stars that sit out just because of a little cough. He has played so many consecutive games, he plays the game through his heart, he is a great role model and lead by example unlike others. In other words, he's a great guy, a great athlete, a great QB, a family man, and a great football player. Just to list a few of why someone with some single knowledge of football will consider him a legend/hall of famer.

Age does not overshadow what he has done in the past. Hell, I think it has been personal problems more than age that has hurt his game a little.

I don't think Ray Lewis is overrated. He's not the greatest LB to ever play the game, but he's a consistent force on the best defense in football.

Say what you will about McAllister and Reed, who are both great players, but Baltimore was the best defense in football before either of those guys arrived. Lewis has been the one constant to the Ravens defense during its 6-7 run of statistical dominance.

I don't care if he jumps on piles late -- if he's in position to jump on a pile, it means that he's around the football, which is what a linebacker is supposed to do. Very, very few linebackers in history have gotten to the ball as regularly as Lewis.

And for as many piles as he jumps on, Lewis makes that many solo tackes. The NFL credited Lewis with 100 solo tackles last season and only 46 assisted tackles in 15 games. 146 total stops placed him 3rd in the NFL, and his 100 solos was 4th in the NFL (behind Derrick Brooks, 109; Donnie Edwards, 104; and Lance Briggs, 102). Had he played in that 16th game last year and just reached his averages, he would have been no worse than 2nd in solos and 1st in total stops. As linebackers go, Lewis has far, far more solo stops than a guy like Zach Thomas, whose big tackle totals are built heavily on assisted tackles. (Thomas has had more than 90 solo stops only three times in his 9 NFL seasons; Lewis has been at or over 100 in six of his nine NFL seasons, and had more than 90 in two other seasons -- if Lewis is overrated, then Zach Thomas is vastly overrated).

But he hasn't made a huge difference to the fate of any team he's been on. Philadelphia got one step further last year with him on the roster, but: (1) Philadelphia had been to 3 straight NFC title games without him, including the previous 2 with homefield advantage throughout the NFC playoffs; and (2) Philadelphia won its NFC title in 2004 while Owens was on the sideline.

Owens is a great talent, but Philadelphia has a great football team for more reasons than just T.O. I think many have lost sight of that.

Moss is arguably the best athlete in the NFL but IMO Harrison is the best football player at WR, as much as I cannot stand TO...I don't think he is overrated. He is a damn good wideout and arguably the best in the league right now. The one thing that, IMO, seperates TO and Harrison is that Harrison will willingly go over the middle even after getting rocked. TO won't. He is scared of the big hit and if you get a shot or two on him he gets rattled. The game in Dallas the season after the "star incident" Teague popped him early and the whole game he had alligator arms. In that game where got hurt...Roy Williams got a good shot on him early on....later he saw Roy coming and ducked before he got to the ball which was catchable. He is a big guy but evidently doesn't like to take punishment. Still...he is a bad ass receiver and as big of a pain in the ass that he is...as a fan I would take him on my team.

You might bother to read what I posted. I didn't say the guy wasn't good. I don't dispute that he is one of the best WR in the game and even acknowledged that he's likely headed to Canton.

I just said that the degree to which he changes his team's success is substantially overrated. The Eagles were good without TO and they were just as good with him. To hear the media last year, you'd think that TO was the most important player to any team in NFL. I don't think he makes THAT much of a difference. Overrated to me is a question of value. TO, in my mind, simply isn't anywhere near as valuable as the media portrays him to be.

T.O. is certainly more overrated than Ray Lewis is. At least Ray Lewis has lead his team to a Super Bowl.

If you can't handle that and want a less controversial choice, Dante Hall is in the same category.

Jeremy Shockey is my pick for Offensive Overrated Player, the guy is supposed to be in leagues with Gates and Gonzales but puts up good numbers, but nothing great like the NY media hypes him up to be.
