In before the impending Bonner re-signing.

Bonner hasn't been a problem since the team found some youth.

I wouldn't mind him coming back for one more year. It won't surprise me if he's an assistant next season.

No, he's not. Still under contract until June 30th.

And he'll be with Spurs next year, as a player or in the front office. I'm betting on a return for the vet minimum.

When we started bonner vs okc we turned it around. Last night when we were down by so much pop put bonner in and was the X factor out there.

Worth every penny!!!!

he'll be back, but I'd prefer to have someone with his skill set be brought in who is more athletic.

7 long years that we've had Bonner to replace Robert Horry.

6 years of anguish.

He'll be back next year as a player coach, tbh.

Be careful what you wish for. Spurs can't handle another Jeff Ayres.

He's gonna open a sandwich shop in the At&t and manage it

Um. His $4mil a season is absolutely a problem.

I think he'll come back for veteran minimum. I wouldn't mind that.

Honestly he was better year after year in the playoff. Ok he started really low...

I'd like him back for the minimum. He really spread the court and is underrated as a defender

For all the hatred of bonner, (some of it well deserved) he is still the type of player the spurs need. He is a guy that can eat regular season minutes, and he is a stretch-4 that has enough of a reputation around the league that teams have to honor his shooting ability (even if it diminishes in the playoffs), and he is a serviceable defender for a 4-5 big. The problem has been his salary, but if he's there for the vet min your probably not going to find a better value in a player for the Spurs system.

My first thought as well...and fine with me. He played quite well this post season.

Although Matt Bonner is my White brotha from anotha Motha, I'd like to see the youth movement. Austin Daye play the Bonner role.

Favorite Bonner moment was last night, while the players were getting soaked with the first round of champagne ... The interviews had pretty much come to a hault, and out of the corner comes matty charging in with a bottle spraying, and enthusiastically shouts "let's get this thing started!" Total lol moment for me.

Also, instead of spraying the champagne, he was drinking it...

Bring him back for the minimum. Still a good 12th man. Pop finally learned how to utilize him. Bonner is good relief in the regular season but don't develop a reliance on him.

Are we still acting like the 12th-ish guy on the roster - who averaged 11 minutes a game (mostly garbage time) and had 21 DNP-CDs is some sort of anchor to the system? For the role he's asked to play, he's as good as there is at playing that role. He makes, and will make, an amount of money that won't bother the cap at all, is a great lockerroom guy, and knows the system inside and out. Who better fills his role for the same price?

he was worth every penny and the Spurs better re-sign him

I can't believe these words are coming out of my mouth. It might just still be the championship hangover, but...

I'll be sad when the Red Mamba leaves.

I don't think another team is going to throw big money at him, but he will probably see a few offers. I personally wouldn't mind bringing him back for the minimum for another run.

The hate on bonner was only because pop played him too many minutes back when the spurs didnt have a lot of options

I don't think I ever hated Bonner. I hated the need to use him and Pop's love affair with him years ago, but that's when the roster sucked. He's a good guy and especially as a deep bench player he provides an excellent skill set. Helped vs. OKC and could very well again.

Never disliked Bonner he is what he is, I just hated how much Pop would think he was. I would welcome the idea of having Bonner back if he gets used how he was this last season. I got to say that was a perfect roll for him. However a part of me still has the worry that Pop will allways be tempted with him on the roster lol

However should the Spurs maybe look more at a youth movement to develop like bringing in Davis Bertans, or would that be still to soon?

Which is oxymoronic, really. If Pop didn't have many options he was bound to try them all. He had to choose something. The blame there should rest more on the front office, though it isn't certain that they could have brought in anyone better.

Last two years he has given some nice playoff minutes. Especially last year going against Gasol and Howard when Diaw was out in the first round.

First thing is to sign Diaw and Mills and then worry about everyone else.

His diminished role made it easier to like him

Also his quality blogging and youtube videos. For salary that would acommadate the return of more important basketball priority players (mills, Diaw) he can provide good value. As mentioned he also seems like a good coaching staff candidate next to marks.he relates well and is a high iq guy

He's actually pretty good in spot minutes. That's the way he should have always been used. There was never a reason to overplay him.

one of the best glue guys on the team along with Mills, plus he's been underrated the past couple years. before that he was just good in the RS.

It seems like he loves it here, and he's well liked within the organization, so hopefully they can keep him around for the right price.

I'm not a fan of Bonner, but for the min I'd be good with that.
