I think Cul deserve an appreciation thread tbh

I was convinced he would not show up ever again after Tim rang but surprisingly he came back and owned up like a man. He has been consistent, I respect that.

so to Cul :toast

Cubby's bball takes are usually on point. It's just that his senility leads him off topic more often than not and tends to regurgitate schtick after schtick.

Now go home and get your shinebox.

That part never grows old. Great actors even on the periphery lend to it.

It's personal to both the principals and they sell out for it. Not to us the first time we sit down and watch, but, forever more it is REAL. Shit has happened before. This isn't all that's between them, but, now we know there is lots more.

And it's all there in "Goodfellas." Scorsese forces "Tommy" to remain hunched over the bar, small, weak, put upon...near psychotic in mere moments. The other fellow is upright, tall, brazen, just busting balls. Right off the American viewer is enthralled, Scorsese pushing ALL the buttons.

It's wonderful.

& I thought Scorsese repeating the scene in Casino was beneath him. It was unlike his MO. Stallone gives us what we want. Vince McMahon gives us what we want. We didn't want that from Scorsese. He wanted to give it to us for some inexplicable reason. The scene wasn't gross, it's inclusion was.

But, it was so contrived and out of left field to the story line. In Fellas it was integral. In Casino it was embarrassing. But, to be frank there is a lot of embarrassing moments in Casino. It looked harried from the start and it never got better.

Not sure what scene you're talking about but Casino was very very closely based on a true story. Look up Lefty Rosenthal. Pretty much everything in there happened. Was amazed when I watched an A&E bio of this Rosenthal how true it was. They just had to change the names for whatever reason

I'm talking about the scene where DeNiro asked the fellow next to him in the bar if the ink pen left unattended on the bar is his and the guy mouths off to DeNiro. Then Pesci takes the pen and stabs the guy in the throat repeatedly. It's a knockoff of the Fellas scene where Pesci does likewise to "Bats."

Oh, so there is a typo in the OP. Because I see 3 different accounts. Not posting under your original name is a troll account. Acting like an old Italian fellow as to conceal your identity is a troll account. You fit both criteria. You have troll accounts. You can't argue this. It's clear cut.

Could indeed be the (5). Winning a Championship is renewal of the soul. Sure, it's for a limited time, but, you feel so whole, so complete. For a short time you need nothing else, it's all right there. Then slowly but surely life creeps back in around you, the knot in your stomach starts to tighten once more and you'll start seeing the grotesque in the old Cubster once again. Until that time, God bless ya, boy.

True. I instilled in your fellows a rapt appreciation for the NBA Title. Because of me your belief that there is no second place took root in your hearts and minds. I more or less broke you of the habits of ref & injury lamenting. I brought the count in here and made it a staple of our world. No other Board counts as we count. No other Board hates as we hate. No other Board loves as we love. I brought the count, the hate, and yes, the love in here. I ignited the cognition between player and us. Me. I showed you that light in my heart. Some don't believe it, but, you all think about it and look to your heart for the that light between stranger/player and us.

I don't take lightly what I've done. I feel deep humility. I tried to do this at AZ Central and was rebuffed and forsaken. But, I knew I was right, the principles I held were correct principles. And without the House of Ellis I could not have done this. There was a schism in time when she didn't know whether to cut me loose, or, leave me be. She made the correct choice and we're all better for it.

Sure, I'd rather have the other result, but, it's the journey that I just cannot brook any longer ('10 was the last time for me). It's a psychological thing with me now. No more.

But, I thoroughly enjoy doing the postmortems, win or lose, so returning was a foregone conclusion.

Kinda feel the same way. When Goodfellas is over you can hardly tell it's been almost 3 hours. There are parts in Casino where you're looking at your watch thinking, "STILL not over?"
