If Kareem blows his knee out at 33 years old (Before Magic fell in his lap) is the guy even in Shaq's class?

All those regular season MVPs with no titles. Was Kareem the original LeBron James?

you could say that. he was a beast in the regular season, winning 4 mvps in 7 years in the 70's. he probably would've been an 0 timer in his first 10 years if it wasnt for oscar robertson. his second title came when the lakers drafted the lakers. makes you wonder if kareem is a career coattailer ( he likes piggy backing guards it seems like just like duncan)

When the Lakers drafted the Lakers. Ok. I don't recall that one.

this what happens when you and by "you" i mean me, pretends to know what he's talking about tbh. a 6 minute google research of the league history in 70's isn't going to cut it. given my diet of white rice, coffee and fried fish, its no wonder my iq is below 85.

Story of my life

Tiny chickens running around because you never let them mature before you eat them... kids with dirty faces and bad haircuts sitting under makeshift porches staring out at the cameras, women with leathery faces and missing teeth, chewing on some exotic root and swatting flies from their faces.... and a dog leaning against the hula hut to keep from falling down.

He was the original Karl Malone tbh(big FG% drops in the playoffs, RS empty stats that couldnt lead his team anywhere), Magic saved his career...

And that's why the Celtics tried to end Magic in '84. They knew if they didn't stop him then, crush him it would be their doom. And they thought they had. I thought they had. I was in a terrible shape, a crying jag in the parking lot at Parmatown in Parma, Ohio that I could not stop. It just empowered Magic though, like when the wrestlers get beat so bad it empowers them and they go nutty nuts and win the match. That's what happened to Magic. They beat him so bad that he because a man possessed and saved us all--took us all out of the darkness and into the light.

Kareem has 6 titles. Six MVP's and has 13,483 points ahead of Jim. Jim would have to play another 10 years to catch Kareem in points. He also has the highest winning percentage of any player to ever play. GOAT... nigga.

MJ couldn't break thru until Pippen got his shit together. Basketball is a team sport. GOAT, passing the torch and all that is merely marketing aimed at low-information consumers.
Kareem was the most dominate center I've ever seen play the game. But even he couldn't do it alone. No one can.

- Kareem led the Bucks to a title in their third season of play. That's more impressive than a lot of other titles.

- The Lake Show put hot garbage around Kareem his first few years there. Like, LeBron's supporting cast in Cleveland level of garbage. He led them to the best record in the NBA in 1976-77 even though their second and third-best players were Lucious Allen and Cazzie Russell. L.A. didn't add Norm Nixon and Silk Wilkes until his fourth season and didn't add Magic until his sixth. No man can do it alone.

:lol basketball is team sport..I don't know why that is so difficult to comprehend for a large portion of fans..

If a player plays horribly and loses to a team that his team should have defeated, then sure, he deserves blame(that doesn't happen very often, though)..otherwise, it's stupid to give credit/blame to an individual for team wins, unless it's a historic run..

You just compared a guy from Central Arkansas traded away on Draft Day to the Golden Boy Magic.

If Jordan had Magic Johnson, he would have won 10 x Titles

- "I didn't want to join MJ, I wanted to beat him." - Magic, lamenting the sequestering of NBA superstars.

Kareem had some terrible teams. Look at the bucks before and after Kareem.

No single nba superstar ever won an NBA title by himself, and Hakeem and Duncan remained the only two superstar who ever won an NBA championship with no other superstar or even Allstar on the team during the championship year, but both had an incredible system and complimentary players around them. There are more teams that won a championship with no superstar (bullets, sonics, pistons and spurs) than the other way around.

All in all, teams win championship, superstars just make it easier.

Kareem and Jordan are, IMO, well ahead of anyone else who's ever played the game. Maybe not in overall ability, but in their production level/relevancy over the number of years they played. Even before Jordan won titles, he was the best player in the game and absolutely destroying defenses. KAJ was much the same, just a dominant presence who played the game for 18-20 years at an exceptionally high level.

He would still be incredibly effective in this day and age. Complete player. Bit of a loner, but a street sweeper on both ends of the court.
