How did it get started, who started it, why? I'd like to know how this site became such a big success. I guess these questions are mostly aimed at Kori and timvp.

I think you know, if not, you missed a lot of history. :drunk

We've had the site in some form since March 2003. LJ and I started it. At first it wasn't SpursTalk.com though. It was just FullSportPress.com and it's forums, which were hosted on ezboard.

We started it because we are basketball fans. We don't make any money off it.

Shit, you should pack this board full of ads and score some cash off of it. Be American.

J/K you guys do a great job running this board and I thank you for it.

True that!

I'd pay to be a member here and I keep even better track of my money than Doug Christie's wife does of him. :lol

If everyone here was to pay at least 1 Dollar a month ? LJ and Kori could make at least 200 bucks or more, and that could help with the electric bill.

They were constantly talking about NO LIMIT and saying stuff like "IMO HAT" ... I had no idea what the hell was going on.

LMFAO! IMO :hat

Hey Spurs Fan, lets get a COLD BEER

Grab your left nut and say UNNNGGGGHHH!

Shit, I remember the days when KoriEllis was KoriDuncan, we thought timvp was some fat old guy who worked at KFC, Marcus Bryant only had one username (Spurs Fan), Tod Tango bragged about how his wife JoJo was the world's biggest Tera Patrick fan, Dusty would call secret chat sessions to tell us all about some French point guard the Spurs were dying to draft, GhostWriter would mention the * in every post, and FunkTiger would shoot down every Archie Bunker on the forum.

A lot have. Including myself.

My first screen name on SR.com was SpursWin. Then in the summer of 2002, when we signed Manu and traded for Speedy, I changed it to FastandFuriousSpurs.

Also, not to brag or anything. But I was the reason SpursReport put up their "Cantina."

COLD BEER is GOOD on a HOT day. IMO. :hat

I would like to point out that Ghost Writer used to post under a different handle. Bonus points for whoever remembers the name.

Most of the history has been covered. Once upon a time there were a limited number of us keeping that other forum alive. baseline bum, timvp, Ghost Writer, Funk Tiger, Flea Flicker, Trey, and a few others. Then the mysa forums opened up. That's where I first was introduced to KoriDuncan, Cosmic Cowboy and travis2, among others. The WOAI Spurs forum was always rather bad. No quality control. The Rivals forum was pretty good.

Eventually most decent posters migrated to that other forum. What became apparent was that it was the posters and not the creator that made that forum worthwhile. The FSP revolution was the best thing ever for Spurs fandom online.

I'd like to thank timvp and Kori for creating an informative, entertaining, and above all else, free forum to discuss Spurs basketball. They've done a great job of keeping the forum fresh and readable while not stifling the discussion.

Good Times.™ IMO :hat

Oh yeah and before there were Ghost Writer versus Marcus Bryant fights, there was Chris versus Spurs Fan.

We have a winner.

Nothing was better than reading GW rip into the Spurs every time the Knicks made a move.

It is quite something to remember the time when the Spurs had no championships and the thought of a Ron Mercer joining the team seemed like but a dream. To remember the time when the entire forum would've cut off their left nuts to see the Spurs win one NBA championship and 3 titles in 7 seasons had about the same odds as a Kersey for Rahim trade going down.

One also recalls when the Spurs were nothing but a perennial also-ran, a team on the outside looking in, like the Suns, Kings and Mavs. When it seemed quite possible that the Spurs would become the Baltimore Crabs or the Anaheim Disneys or whatever.

When one reads the complaints of Spurs fans today in this forum, all they can do is :lol.

MarcusBryant I always wanted to ask, how in the world is it possible ot have over a million posts? Is that for real? If so, then I'm in awe. You must have some sort of an online forum record then.
