Timmy was the best player in the fucking world in 2003. What a season!

I still think 2014>2003 (its close). The latter was too dependent on one player. This one, its a hell of a team effort - from ownership, GM, coach, and almost everyone on the team.

2003. Derailing the Shaq/Kobe train going for a 4 peat was probably more impressive than stopping the Heatles going for 3. That said, the way we blew out the Heat was damn cool. Biggest differential in NBA Finals history.

As great as this is, nothing will ever compare to the first one in 1999.

In terms of accolades don't forget all the regular season, playoffs and Finals records beaten by this 2014 team... no player over 30mpg in the reg season, most playoffs wins by 15+ points, best shooting in a half, most wins by a Big 3, most playoffs double-doubles for Duncan, etc.

There can be no denying that this is a great team, and a great season, and an equally great championship, #5.
Yet, for all those Spurs fans who have followed them from the very beginning of their existence, nothing will ever compare to that first one in 1999, that is what started it all.

1999 is probably the biggest. Leaving the 0 trophies club gives a franchise a huge boost in credibility.

Yup, but that's not what we're currently discussing. Check the thread title.

Yeah, which team could beat which team, or which title is the sweetest are different conversations.

You said from an awards, accolades, credentials standpoint. Half the stuff you listed from 2014 doesn't qualify.

Better/more all-nba/rookie/defensive teams selections > executive of the year.

1999 is probably the biggest. Leaving the 0 trophies club gives a franchise a huge boost in credibility.

Not only that, it was the biggest cheer leading leading up to it during the finals seen all over the city on buildings, on cars, in restaurants, on billboards, etc. that ever has been since, and the hugest celebration, and relief, after they won it all that will probably never be repeated again. That celebration was all over the city, not just downtown on Commerce St., it even shut down the major expressways because people were stopping their cars and getting out and jumping around celebrating and screaming.
Even the first River Parade was spectacular.
Nothing will ever come close to it.

I think this team beats our o3 team in a 7 game series.

2003 Tim Duncan had more accolades than the 2014 San Antonio Spurs

The 2003 season definitely tops 2014 for accolades, but 2014 will always be special because of the redemption against LeBron and the heat.

Slightly off topic, but still seemed notable in that the Spurs have 3 of the 9 on this list: "[Currently] only nine active NBA players have spent at least 10 years with the same team — Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers; Dirk Nowitzki with the Dallas Mavericks; Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili with the San Antonio Spurs; Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem with the Miami Heat; Nick Collison with the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder; and Anderson Varejao with the Cleveland Cavaliers."

Who defends 03 Duncan on the 2014 Team? 14 Duncan? :lol That'd be a fun match up to watch.
