Unlike LeBron, Wade, Kobe, and all of the other "superstars" (or past), he has never had a legit #2. He was supposed to form a "super team" with Amare before Amare become injury-prone. In my opinion, that would have been one of the deadliest combinations in the NBA history. Laugh all you want, but Amare was that good, and we have seen how big men can match well with scorers.

Other than that, who has been his best #2 options through his career? An over-the-hill AI? JR Smith?

A lot of hate on someone that really hasn't been put in the right situation FWIW. If he joins the Bulls, I expect a lot of the hate to slide.

Melo will never win a title unless he plays on the same team with Lebron.

You'd be singing a different tune if your Lakers had any chance in hell of signing Melo.

No, I wouldn't. I called Howard's number and I was right.

The truth doesn't change, Mori.

Melo is a good second option for a team, but anyone that thinks they are winning an NBA title with him as their #1 is kidding themselves. All he can do is score, and he's not even the best in the league at that. He's not an elite defender, nor is he an elite playmaker. The fact that he failed to make the playoffs in one of the weakest conferences ever speaks volume about his ability as a #1 option.

My understanding was Mello & Amare were a poor combo. They play similar styles 15 feet from the basket. Neither rebounds or defends well

Carmelo is worth less than Bosh at this point but more than Wade.

Carmelo actually rebounds quite well. but neither play defense and neither are facilitators on offense

Carmelo does receive too much hate, he actually had a really good season last year, too..I'm not a fan of his, but I've never held it against him for not winning anything, because I don't blindly look at omg rinnngggzzz like most fans..

However, I doubt you can actually win with him as your lead guy, strictly based on his style of play, tbh..questionable shot selection, no defense and not a particularly good passer..tough to win when your best player fits that mould..

Melo is a prolific scorer but not an efficient one. He could be he #1 option on a team composed of mostly defensive players with a defensive mindset. That is why Chicago makes SO much sense.

Melo to HOU confirmed.
