Did anyone just see it right not a 5:30, the episode where Homer thinks he is dying, he listens to the Bilble narrarated by Larry King. At the end Larry goes "I Love the San Antonio Spurs and I pick them to win it all" I've seen that episode so much, that is the first time I remember hearing that line.

Been there, done that.
I remember hearing that when I was just a littlun, before I was really even into the Spurs. I just remember being amazed that they actually mentioned our city.
I was like, "Mom, people know about San Antonio!?" :lol
(Old) Simpsons are still cool in my book. They called it...just a few years early.

It thought it was badasss when they gave us a fictional NFL team on the suprbowl episode.
No way it was Houston we lost too, that episode if from about 90,91 or 92.
I think we lost to the Warriors that season, like Baseline said.
RIP TMC.

:lol If you notice, there are also a lot of references to Lubbock and Texas Tech. Must have been one of the writers/producers.

Supposedly Springfield is based on a real springfield, though i doubt physically. I'm gonna say springfield illinios since they have shown the St louis arch in one episode.

The episode....where hHomer eats a blowfish and the apprentice chef thinks he may have been accidently poisoned.....was originally aired Jan 1991....this was right after DRob's rookie year after we lost to Portland in the 7 game series.

Where in Missouri is there a mountain the size of Mount Springfield?
I am leaning towards Oregon.

Remember there was a place called the springfield badlands that was the shape and size of Texas. So obviously, it's nowhere

Wasn't that the one were Sideshow Bob shut down the TV in Springfield with a dud nuke bomb, and krusty broadcasted from a shcak on the emergency channel?
I am wondering if it is a combination of places where Groenig grew up....and he used "Springfield" as a generic name for his americana.
Springfield is a name of a city in almost every state....kinda like Marion,.

... lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
Well, that's it. Old Fred [?] is standing by, we'll get some coffee,
we'll get some matzo-ball soup. I love the San Antonio Spurs,
by the way, if you're betting on the NBA this year, I think they'll
win it all. So I guess there's nothing more to say but... [closing music]

Homer discovers the wonders of sushi, trying a piece of every fish on the menu of the Happy Sumo restaurant. But when he eats a bad piece of blowfish, he is poisoned and given 24 hours to live by Dr. Hibbert. With one day left on earth, Homer makes a list of everything he ever wanted to do but didn't and tries to pack it all in before he succumbs to the blowfish poison. After staying up all night, Homer survives and goes on to live his life exactly as he did before--watching TV and eating salty treats.
Spurs lost to Golden State in the first round that year, 3-1
I actually posted this exact same topic back 3 years ago or so on SpursReport. brings back memories...
