Past achievements don't get disregarded, especially if they contributed to the current heat team that has made it to the finals 4 years in a row and won twice..

He kept raping them when he got to Toronto. See the Bargnani trade.

They actually have an award for this, and the GMs are arguably just as important as coaches, since they hire them and assemble the team...

Here are the top names that get thrown around

RC
Presti
Riley
Kupchak
Ujiri
Morey
Bird (despite what happened with granger he assembled a good team)
Billy King
Jerry West

how would you rank them?

no presti? The Harden move wasn't his fault since he would have lost him for peanuts because of their cheap owner, he's right behind Riles imo.

Also, how does Morey get ranked so high when he hasn't accomplished anything? Dude has won 1 playoff series, and the coach that did it for him he fired for calling him out.

Danny Ferry deserves mention. He somehow moved Joe Johnson's contract and was smart enough to let Josh Smith walk, that's gotta be worth something.

I think it would be something like this:

RC Buford/Gregg Popovich
Sam Presti
Pat Riley
Masaj Ujiri
Mitch Kupchak
Daryl Morey
Jerry West
Danny Ferry

No, Adelman wanted complete control of roster moves. Morey for his faults, has taken the corpses of McGrady and Yao, and turned them into Harden and Howard, all without tanking.

Riley is so overrated it's not even funny. And it's showing why he is right now, chasing Luol Deng as if he'll make a difference :lol

I think we're talking active GM's here. Now if we include retired and active GM's, then yes, Stern is clearly top 3.

Where does Riley's high regard as a GM come from, tbh?:lol..

How does he get credit for 3 friends joining each other in Miami and Shaq demanding a trade out of LA?..he's an awful GM with an antiquated mind for the game..

And Billy King should be the worst on every list, I don't know how he still has room in the NBA, tbh..

Yeah I dont get this pick either.

He had KD already there and I have no idea where Westbrooke came from and who got him but I dont think he's great. Didn't he tried to get Tyson Chandler and then backed out of it? How that worked out for him? :lol

Little love for that Suns new guy? He's done a pretty good job. Not impressed with the Ujiri guy in Toronto at all.

Ujiri raped the Knicks for Gallinari, Chandler, Felton, Mozgov, and the Knicks' 2014 first round pick in a hopeless situation when Anthony wanted out. That Knicks' pick became Andre Iguodala and he dumped Felton on Portland for Andre Miller, so essentially that trade became Melo who wanted out for Gallinari, Chandler, Iguodala, Miller, and Mozgov. You're not supposed to win a trade when an all-star wants out, and somehow he did. Then he left for Toronto and the new GM lost Iguodala for nothing.

As soon as he got to Toronto he went back and raped New York some more, salary dumping Bargnani's truly hideous 2 year, $22 million contract. Bargnani is one of the worst players in the league by far. Not hard to see how New York missed the playoffs this year playing that faggot 30 minutes a game. And Toronto gets the 3 seed. Bargnani just cast a black cloud over that team the same way Jefferson did with the Spurs. And Ujiri also got the Knicks' 2016 first round pick for salary dumping one of the five worst players in the league on their ass!

And then dumping Rudy Gay's 2 year, $37 million deal was a great move too. He took over one of the worst cap situations in the league and got rid of their two worst contracts without having to give up any good assets. Toronto is nowhere close to the luxury tax now when without Ujiri they would be paying it to retain Lowry. He's easily the #2 GM in the league right now.

Lol the only thing Donnie Nelson/ Cuban has done well recently is when they hired Rick. The rest was pure luck (Monte, Carter, Chandler's first go around etc.....). They can't draft worth a shit and they blowup championship teams.
