Before anyone ever cared where I would play basketball, I was a kid from Northeast Ohio. It’s where I walked. It’s where I ran. It’s where I cried. It’s where I bled. It holds a special place in my heart. People there have seen me grow up. I sometimes feel like I’m their son. Their passion can be overwhelming. But it drives me. I want to give them hope when I can. I want to inspire them when I can. My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now.
Remember when I was sitting up there at the Boys & Girls Club in 2010? I was thinking, This is really tough. I could feel it. I was leaving something I had spent a long time creating. If I had to do it all over again, I’d obviously do things differently, but I’d still have left. Miami, for me, has been almost like college for other kids. These past four years helped raise me into who I am. I became a better player and a better man. I learned from a franchise that had been where I wanted to go. I will always think of Miami as my second home. Without the experiences I had there, I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing today.
I went to Miami because of D-Wade and CB. We made sacrifices to keep UD. I loved becoming a big bro to Rio. I believed we could do something magical if we came together. And that’s exactly what we did! The hardest thing to leave is what I built with those guys. I’ve talked to some of them and will talk to others. Nothing will ever change what we accomplished. We are brothers for life. I also want to thank Micky Arison and Pat Riley for giving me an amazing four years.
I’m doing this essay because I want an opportunity to explain myself uninterrupted. I don’t want anyone thinking: He and Erik Spoelstra didn’t get along. … He and Riles didn’t get along. … The Heat couldn’t put the right team together. That’s absolutely not true.
I’m not having a press conference or a party. After this, it’s time to get to work.
When I left Cleveland, I was on a mission. I was seeking championships, and we won two. But Miami already knew that feeling. Our city hasn’t had that feeling in a long, long, long time. My goal is still to win as many titles as possible, no question. But what’s most important for me is bringing one trophy back to Northeast Ohio.
I always believed that I’d return to Cleveland and finish my career there. I just didn’t know when. After the season, free agency wasn’t even a thought. But I have two boys and my wife, Savannah, is pregnant with a girl. I started thinking about what it would be like to raise my family in my hometown. I looked at other teams, but I wasn’t going to leave Miami for anywhere except Cleveland. The more time passed, the more it felt right. This is what makes me happy.
To make the move I needed the support of my wife and my mom, who can be very tough. The letter from Dan Gilbert, the booing of the Cleveland fans, the jerseys being burned -- seeing all that was hard for them. My emotions were more mixed. It was easy to say, “OK, I don’t want to deal with these people ever again.” But then you think about the other side. What if I were a kid who looked up to an athlete, and that athlete made me want to do better in my own life, and then he left? How would I react? I’ve met with Dan, face-to-face, man-to-man. We’ve talked it out. Everybody makes mistakes. I’ve made mistakes as well. Who am I to hold a grudge?
I’m not promising a championship. I know how hard that is to deliver. We’re not ready right now. No way. Of course, I want to win next year, but I’m realistic. It will be a long process, much longer than it was in 2010. My patience will get tested. I know that. I’m going into a situation with a young team and a new coach. I will be the old head. But I get a thrill out of bringing a group together and helping them reach a place they didn’t know they could go. I see myself as a mentor now and I’m excited to lead some of these talented young guys. I think I can help Kyrie Irving become one of the best point guards in our league. I think I can help elevate Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters. And I can’t wait to reunite with Anderson Varejao, one of my favorite teammates.
But this is not about the roster or the organization. I feel my calling here goes above basketball. I have a responsibility to lead, in more ways than one, and I take that very seriously. My presence can make a difference in Miami, but I think it can mean more where I’m from. I want kids in Northeast Ohio, like the hundreds of Akron third-graders I sponsor through my foundation, to realize that there’s no better place to grow up. Maybe some of them will come home after college and start a family or open a business. That would make me smile. Our community, which has struggled so much, needs all the talent it can get.
In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have.
I’m ready to accept the challenge. I’m coming home.

Lebron proved me wrong in still being a media whore. I thought he grew up observing him the past couple of years, but each day of this it looked like he just wanted to get all the attention.
As a fan of basketball, I am glad he just wrote a letter.
Bosh to the Rockets.
Wade to the Bulls. (I could see this happening.) Him and Rose can join the geriatric club in Chicago.

No, Parsons is more than likely leaving and if Morey matches, they have absolutely no cap space to upgrade their bench, which won't have Linn and probably Beverly will have to be traded as well to make room for Bosh.

Three thoughts:
1-The Cavs need to sign Kwame Brown with their room exception so they can field an all first-pick lineup. Has that ever been done, even in an All-Star game?
2- Bosh may not leave Miami, since the Heat may give him the full max now that he's their best player. For a guy who was jumping at Houston's money but who loves South Beach, he may have he best of both worlds.
3- Either way, the Heat will still make the playoffs, I think. If Bosh returns, it's a certainty. But even if he doesn't, they have some decent players and now loads of cap space. They also have the third-best coach in the East.

I do now.

My respect for Lebron increased by a thousand fold. I mean, that letter wipes any doucehbaggery committed by James during the Decision. He could've simply stick it to Gilbert and Cleveland fans but he took the high road showing compassion and maturity in the process. He has a great understanding of the situation, and huge props for taking the challenge instead of an easy way out.

Real reason of his departure: he thinks heat is done (:lol McRoberts), he wanted the max and cavs is a nice sellable story
Now his communication manager / staff had to prepare an argumentation based on the roots story, they proposed it, Lebron added some of his own stuff, a writter did the letter, Lebron validated... end of the story

Whether you like or don't like LeBron for whatever reason, I don't see a problem with this decision or how he did it this time. If he went to a team other than the Heat or the Cavs, you could call him a mercenary or a ring chaser and bash him for a number of reasons. But going back to Cleveland and for the reasons he suggested (whether the essay was scripted by someone else or not) makes sense for him, his heart, and his family. Can't fault a guy for going back to his hometown team and the organization that drafted him to try to make good. Perhaps leaving for Miami in the first place is the thing that makes the homecoming a little weird or questionable. But he accomplished what he needed to do by leaving, winning championships.
Now he can do what he wants by his terms, perhaps with a little less pressure, and at his own pace. He'll still be the best player in the league for a number of more years. He'll have young talent around him, and potentially be able to attract more experienced talent to join him.
Any other team would have opened the door to a shitload of criticism. Going back to Cleveland shouldn't really cause any issues for anyone, fans or critics alike. Miami fans should be grateful. They got two titles and four Finals appearances out of him. And that should be solace enough, especially for a fanbase that is as exceptionally horrible and apathetic as any in the league, perhaps only next to Atlanta fans. They didn't deserve the two titles they got out of LeBron.
Never a LeBron fan, I can completely respect his decision to go home.

By more of a fun player you mean immature, dancing idiot in Cleveland? :lol
not even, when he was trying to win it in cleveland it was him as the leader of a bunch of role players trying to win one for the city of cleveland, which is a story a lot of people bought into and rooted for lebron. When he went to miami people didn't want him to suceed, and he didn't seem to have as much fun as he did in Cleveland.

Yah. But we're talking about the Lakers. Clippers were in the 2nd round of the playoffs and all I saw in DTLA were empty bars. Lakers have a high profile regular season game and you have people filling up the place, even with a shitty season/record.

The Great Satan has decided that the souls of Irving,Wiggins is worth a lot more than the souls of Bosh,Wade. The Great Satan left Miami because they could no longer provided with a stack roster. The Great Satan saw the Cavs roster and realized he needed go there to get his easy bail outs. It doesn't matter since The Great Satan will fail and I look forward to seeing it.
