I'm not usually one read too much into these types of decisions, but given the trouble the Spurs have given Lebron in the Duncan era, and the fact that Miami would have still made it to the finals over the next few years regardless of who they put around Wade/Bosh/James due to the weakness in the EC, have to wonder a bit if it factored in.
