Brazil should have seen two straight reds this tournament (Neymar elbowing Modric on purpose and now Silva for that foul on Robben) and several yellow-reds (Silva in the first game for a tactical foul to stop a Croatian counter attack around the 70th minute, both Silva and Fernandinho for repeatedly hacking the shit out of James against Colombia and you could also argue for some against Chile...), but I bet that no ref has the guts to actually do that on their home turf.

Police have confirmed that a 15-year-old committed suicide after watching Brazil lose 7-1 to Germany in the World Cup.

Pragya Thapa, 15, from Sunsari district in east Nepal, hanged herself after watching Brazil, who were her favourite team, suffer the surprisingly one-sided defeat.
Nepalese police officer Sharad Thapa said: "She was anxious to see Brazil in the final, but it went down to Germany.
"Some of her friends started teasing her for supporting Brazil. Later in the morning, she took an extreme measure by hanging herself in her own room."
Pragya lived in a remote village around 250 miles from Nepal's capital city Kathmandu.
Her mother found her hanging from the ceiling in her room. She was living with her mother and grandparents while her father was abroad working.
Her body has been sent for an autopsy.

still doubtful IMO. just saw it again. sure, you could claim the striker tried to put his leg in there, but on the other hand the defender behaved stupidly. okay, you can call it doubtful, but if it's a peno, there's still not that much room for any complaint...

however, no peno but a freekick instead. was outside the box. that ref was blind.

Cant blame the ref. Even the commentators had to review the play a few times before seeing that.

well, okay, don't blame the ref for giving a peno instead of a freekick as it was very close (I'll admit that), but you still have to blame the ref for not giving a red card. that was as red as it gets.

Infinite_limit

IMO the ref chose

- Penalty + Yellow

instead of

- Red card + Free Kick inches from Box

Scenario #2 would have buried Brazil 3 minutes into the game

I agree but it was the 3rd minute of the game. Sure it was a red but it was the 3rd minute of a meaningless game and the host was brazil.

very true. but still, does that mean brazil is free of all cards? brazil could have seen a couple of sent-offs... none of those actually happened, although most should have had... well, Brazil should have seen two straight reds this tournament (Neymar elbowing Modric on purpose and now Silva for that foul on Robben) and several yellow-reds (Silva in the first game for a tactical foul to stop a Croatian counter attack around the 70th minute, both Silva and Fernandinho for repeatedly hacking the shit out of James against Colombia and you could also argue for some against Chile...), but I bet that no ref has the guts to actually do that on their home turf.

In 2006 no way! We had that Pekerman pussy, that's why we lost. Pekerman was, is and will always be a kiddie's coach. Thank God we got rid of him.
In 2010 they had the better coach and better luck. Getting scored in the 3rd minute is a big slap in the face for any team, especially one coached by a man with no brain cells.

The first goal was on the third minute, the second on the 70th. Argentina dominated that game until the 2nd goal, that's something you can't argue. Germany didn't look that good in that time span. After that, the whole Argentine team fell apart. It's useless to argue that now, but Germany was not the team everyone thinks they were, and that showed against Spain.
