Silver's exploratory idea would hold a tournament that would be showcased in Las Vegas. Similar to soccer, the tournament would essentially be a quick tourney for NBA teams to win a trophy outside of the NBA Championship.

It's not immediately clear how exactly this would work. For example, the UEFA Champions League takes the best teams from around Europe, where several leagues including the Premier League in England, Bundesliga in Germany and La Liga in Spain all have top talent that afford their teams the ability to challenge for victory.

This could be a good idea if it was quick tournament that allowed NBA teams to shit on Euro League teams, otherwise it's fucking pointless imo.

Id be up for that. Have NYC host it and invite Euro teams and maybe a team or two from some of the better leagues in the Americas (Puerto Rico maybe). It wouldnt be as important as the LOB but it doesnt have to be tbh.

^nobody would watch if they lowered the bar to letting in filthy latin american teams though.

maybe they could invite the south aryans from argentina since they actually know how to play ball (basketball and soccer tbh)

I would hope the Clippers would just pull a Spurs - rest all the starters and don't take this lame cash grab seriously....

I like this in theory (but would rather have it after the NBA season, maybe sometime in August), but we know NBA teams wouldn't get up for it.

That said, it's a good idea to continue the growth of the game abroad. I'd like to see the Spurs, even if it's just their bench and Summer League hopefuls, against Maccabi or Real Madrid. Be interesting.

Players were raped with the BRI in the last CBA negotiation, not surprised the owners wants additional $$$ coming in with the current distribution that pays them more than the previous deal.

It's going to be hilarious to watch them pull the ":cry teams are losing money :cry" meme next time they sit down...

This is stupid and will only cheapen the sport when some scrub ass Euro team wins because nobody is trying or someone tears their ACL in this stupid shit. I cant even believe this is a real proposal

Then we must rename the awards. Spurs are now 5x North American Champs

midseason tournament means players would want to be paid more to play more then 82rs games

either u shorten the season and have knock out rounds like march madness with the participation of some euro teams

then this woudl also conflict with euro league imo...

The comparison to domestic tournaments like the FA cup or Copa Del Rey is incredibly stupid. No way that NBA teams would give a shit about it.
