Lance Stephenson will sign a 3-year, $27M deal with the Charlotte #Hornets, as reported by the Charlotte Observer.

This year's Darwin award, tbh.

Stephenson is dumb, but perhaps under white master Clifford's tutelage he can maximize his great talent and reverse the backwards movement of Darwinism.

Lance Stephenson and PJ Hairston could be a deadly combo. Literally. People are going to die.

Charlotte's extremely fortunate the Jazz matched Hayward's contract. Stephenson is flat out better on a much better deal.

power move performed flawlessly by charlotte tbh, overpay for some player that will be matched, then wait for the market to use all of its capspace and then sign an equally good player at a discount.

Pacer fans are struggling with the news:

http://www.pacersdigest.com/showthread.php?98140-Lance-Stephenson-to-sign-with-Charlotte-3-years-27-million

Damn, looking at that board really makes a guy appreciate Spurstalk. Those PD folks are worse than GNSFs. Not a good take to be found.

pacers be stupid to let this clown go when the cheat team has already disbanded

this is the best time if they can mesh that roster together for future runs cause i dont think cavs teams are ready yet....

Charlotte's extremely fortunate the Jazz matched Hayward's contract. Stephenson is flat out better on a much better deal.

Hayward's deal is probably 3-4 million more than he's actually worth (although a white SF with Hayward's ability is probably worth $15+ million a year to Utah). Lance's deal is less inflated, but he's probably still being overpaid based on his production/usage rate. An advanced stats comparison on them for 2013-2014 shows mixed results. Lance had a better TS%, eFG% and slightly better ORtg. Hayward had a better PER, DRtg and RAPM.

They're both 23 years old but I think Hayward has about topped out his potential, especially with Utah. The only thing that can change is his usage rate (surrounding him with better teammates would also help). I think Lance can still get better. The obvious problem with Lance is that he's crazy. And I don't expect his behavior to be any less erratic on a team like the Hornets.

Stephenson's contract is obviously better. But as of right now I don't think Lance is a better player than Hayward. Hayward suffered from playing on the worst team in the West. Lance was able to play off some good players in Indiana. Even if their offense was terrible, it still allowed him some room.

All that said, the Jazz know what they're getting in Hayward. The Hornets don't really know what they're getting in Stephenson.

Good risk/reward deal for Charlotte.

I believe Bird got the exact outcome he was aiming for with the 5/44 offer.

Lance cost himself a fortune with his batshit crazy antics.

I think I'd rather have Lance for $27 million than the offer sheet they gave Hayward.

Stephenson is one of the most overrated players in the league, but it's a good deal for a team that desperately needs creators, especially on the perimeter..

Charlotte also has a team option, very smart move from Cho.

while its been said a few times, this is a much better signing for Charlotte than Hayward given their respective contracts

9mill a year and team option on the 3rd???...hmmmm

Should've just taken the Indiana deal. Doubt someone is gonna throw the max at him in three years if that's what he's thinking with the shorter deal

While a good player, the Hornets were relying on players like Gerald Henderson to create. Stephenson is a dummy who cost himself millions, but should help CHA.

I'm actually surprised someone didn't give him more. Definitely overpaid, but not the worst contract ever. I was expecting something like 4 years 55 mil.

Hill is actually pretty good but 2 yrs/$18M is a joke over 3 years that's not an awful deal.
