Mills/Baynes video bombing Australian reporter on live tv [Archive]

It was staged, but still funny.

Definitely not staged.

Baynes and Mills were being driven from radio station to radio station yesterday morning and they were in traffic when they saw the reporter, jumped out of the car, video bombed and got back in the car.

Hence reporter was so off-guard as that would literally be one of the last things you'd expect to happen.

Reporter Julian de Stoop is a VIC bloke through and through, so I can't blame him for not knowing anything else outside the AFL, his state's most popular sport. In NSW and QLD, the NRL reigns supreme. Basketball is just a small blip on the radar for many of the locals here.

He was told by the reporter on the other end of the Live cross who they were, and even then he pretended to know. This guy would know Australian Rules Football and Cricket that it. 99.9% of Australian newspapers and online sports material consists of AFL, Rugby, Cricket and Horse Racing.

Yeah...how the fuck are you a sports guy in Australia and not know Patty Mills and Aron Baynes, especially when they're carrying the trophy they just won a month ago. Doubt that light push on Patty's chest will hurt him, though.

I'm not sure that the reporter even got a good look at Mills & Baynes...the reporter was probably staring at a bright spotlight and the camera when they jumped in from the side...looks like the reporter only saw them in his peripheral vision at first and then mostly saw their backs.

While Mills and Baynes well known to spurs fans in Australia most Aussies would have never heard of them. Just like you have never heard of Thorpe the swimmer. It is a remarkable thing in Australia that high profile persons eg Russell Crowe can go to a sports match and not be hounded by press paparazzi. That is unless
they set it up.
