Good. Not nearly as great as they were making it out to be though.

First one was better but I enjoyed this one a lot. Subtitles for half the movie is kinda lame but it had a good story and the cg was dope

I didn't like this movie much. It was too plain. The cg animation was..kinda............eh. I agree that "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was more enjoyable.

Good to know. It sounds over-hyped. I really disliked the first one and if this one isn't miles better then it's not worth my time. I'll wait till pirate bay has a good copy in a few weeks.

Best movie of the summer for me. I am not even a fan of the Planet of The Apes concept, but this movie is just great.

I thought it was better than Rise. The movie was actually better than I expected going in tbh. Had a dances with wolves/avatar theme to it. Good acting, memorable scenes... I give it :tu:tu

Yeah. I think they took it in the right direction and it's hard to say something was wrong with it. Just was expecting way more. Oldman was also under utilized.

Way weaker than the first one, IMO.

Hey SckrunchieIsntGod and others who saw this....
Did you ever see the original 1968 one with Chuck Heston and the Bristish actor and cast?

Of course. It was great. Unfortunately, with the today's special effects, it's hard to really appreciate it. IMO, the best story if all of them.

change the horses to flying watermelons and change the guns to fried chicken legs and you've just filmed "the dream".

the movie had better action scenes than the first one, and the story actually had some depth to it, compared to the first one which was "oh this chimp got smart and now he's misunderstood"

that's a large reduction on the first one. you could say the second one was "chimps multiplied and battled humans"

I agree. And the first one helped explain how it all started from the treatment of Koba to the education of Ceaser. And the transmission of the disease to the first human.
I liked the 2nd slightly better myself. But the first one was way more than "oh this chimp got smart and now he's misunderstood".

although LOL at us debating Planet of the Apes movies

i didn't dislike the first one at all, but the plot was stronger in the 2nd imo.

I thought is was a reach that humans stuck around San Francisco until 3 weeks before they were going to run out of power. Surely they could have sent out search parties in vehicles. Or looked to find a different source of electricity other than fixing the dam. I would have thought they would be looking to use solar and wind power.

Plus, what happened to all the other animals besides people, apes, and horses.

I thought it was very good, like an 8.5\10, I wasnt expecting a lot from this franchise and I always hated the apes films but these are the best imo.

What do you mean what happened to the animals? We saw that bear scene remember? Plus San Fran isnt notorious for its wild life

awesome fucking movie. Characters, development, action that was truly fucking intense. I have one question though, what now? The movie ends with the news that there's a bunch of armed humans on their way and the apes just took a huge hit in the battle. How's the next movie gonna be anything more than the soldiers coming and wiping out the rest of the apes?

that's a large reduction on the first one. you could say the second one was "chimps multiplied and battled humans"

you could say the Godfather part 2 was "Michael turning into a douche and continues the family business" or how about The Road Warrior was "Max helping people guard some gasoline"

Do you Apes viewers concur that one needs to view Rise before seeing Dawn?

I have only seen about 10 minutes of Rise.....so far.

Seems like we're being conditioned for the whole quarantine thing.

Caesar would be a pretty dull character if you only saw Dawn. Actually, Dawn gives a great introduction to all the bigger ape characters. It's a must

finally saw it. very good film. i expected to hate it after all the hype, but it did a great job building tension and drama. the director Matt Reeves deserves a ton of credit imo. Gary Oldman was automatic as usual.

it's strange how good these Ape prequels have turned out, even the first one was very solid as well and I was expecting it to suck.
