SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- The Red Rocket is coming back to San Antonio.
The Spurs announced on Monday that they have re-signed Matt Bonner (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3748/). Terms were not disclosed, but the veteran will return for a ninth season in San Antonio. That's the longest tenure outside of the trio ofTim Duncan (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3173/), Manu Ginobili (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3380/) and Tony Parker.
Bonner only played sparingly last season, averaging 3.2 points in 11.3 minutes in 61 games. But he shot 42.9 percent from 3-point range and is a beloved member of the team both inside the organization and in the community.
Bonner ranks third in franchise history in 3-pointers made and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage.

Fuck the haters.Nobody is a hater on this dude, he was getting too many mins and re-signed a few too many times for the price! Now that this dude is getting the mins he deserves the last few years and the money he deserves now NO HATE! He was bad in the playoffs with alot of mins against the wrong TEAM, thank GOD Pop recognized that and sat the bum against those teams and played him when he he should be played, then we made the finals again two times in a row! Coincidence? Bonner is a stretch player and can play his role in a certain series for a half or so, any more than that he is bad news........ Right role and right pay I am good with him back, yes.

"Terms were not disclosed." We will never know about those terms that have kept him in SA for nine years. :lol

How Pop uses Matt now is perfect so glad to have him back.

As a sixth big and special weapon off the bench at the minimum (that's, however, more than 1 million $ payed, in part, by the league) he's perfect, considering he already knows the system.
But as for now I wouldn't dislike to re-sign Baynes and then sign via sign and trade e/o MLE a small and fast guard (in case Sutton looks too unexperienced) and a big/back up three/four. For the first role I see as available Mo Williams and Nelson. For the second, Marion and Blatche.
All of them could be solid contributors and give to our players real time to rest during the R.S and good minutes on play offs too...

Good pick up. Been here, knows the system and wont mind sitting behind the bench for most season.

Would be hilarious if Bonner got a no-trade clause on his deal.

Well, we've got to ensure that he makes it to his spot as Coach Bonner / President of Basketball Operations, not to mention getting that jersey in the rafters.

Like I said at this role he is in now at this pay why not keep him? He is not hurting the team at all. Now if POP goes senile and starts and plays him big minutes in the wrong situation then I will hate on POP for it :lol Bonner though is a Spur until he retires and plays a minute role now, no more big minutes and people still can bitch about him.

Jamison is even worse than Bonner at this point.

Hope he spends the year as a "player coach" in a suit. Then again, if it's him or Errors getting PT, I'm probably going with Bonner tbqh. I'll be damned if this ginger bastard hasn't grown on me in the smallest way. As long as he's making league min and only playing spot minutes that is.
